How many hours do you use your mobile, and which application is used the most?

These days, I spend fewer hours on my phone due to my work life. I used to spend more than 3 hours using my phone daily, but as you can see in my screenshot, I have only used my mobile phone for 3 hours 27 minutes as of when I checked my mobile usage.

Before, I used to use my mobile phone very well, but these days I find it hard to use my mobile phone because of my work, as I do submit my phone whenever I am on duty.

TikTok is the most used application on my mobile phone. I often post on my TikTok account and watch other people's videos, which is the reason why it is my most used application, followed by calculator, which I use for the calculation of sales before reporting to my boss. WhatsApp is the next most-used application that I use for chatting.

What are the reasons why you use your mobile phone so much?

I use my mobile phone mostly for communication with my loved ones and friends, for social media, and for the Steemit platform. Social media, especially TikTok, is where I use my phone most often because I am trying to grow my TikTok account before moving over to Facebook.

Screen time affects my life, especially my eyes, if I spend too much time on my screen. What I do to avoid being affected by my screen is keeping my phone afar from me a little bit if I am operating it. I don't take my phone too close to my eyes, as seen in the picture that I have shared.

Share three physical activities that take you away from screen time.

  • Working
  • Sleeping
  • Studying

If I am working at my place of work, I don't use my phone; the use of a phone during working hours is not allowed. During working hours, I submit my phone and collect it after my closure from work, which is usually around 6 pm. The benefits of this are that it allows me to be focused and more productive at my place of work.

Sleeping, if I am sleeping or trying to rest, I don't make use of my phone. I do keep it aside so I won't be distracted. The benefits of this are that it allows me to have enough rest and stay away from being distracted.

If I am studying or reading the Bible or books, I don't make use of my phone, so I wouldn't be distracted from studying. The benefits of this are that it helps me to pay good attention and stay focus with whatever that I am reading.

What benefits did you see when you reduced your screen time?

When I reduce my screen time, which I had at first, I feel healthier and stronger. I don't feel eye pain or headache. There was a week that I spent too much time on my screen, including day and night, and I ended up with a headache on my forehead and eye pain, so I was advised to reduce my screen time.

From that day onwards, I stopped spending too much time on my screen, and it has been helpful to me, which I am happy about.

What advice would you give to others to avoid excessive screen time and reduce mobile phone use?

My advice to others to avoid excessive screen time and reduce mobile phone use is:

  • Avoid operating your mobile phone at midnight when you're supposed to be sleeping.

  • Don't dim your mobile phone screen light to be too bright because it can affect your eyes

  • Don't spend much time on your mobile phone doing irrelevant things

  • Be productive with your mobile phone.

  • Don't combine the use of your mobile phone with physical activity to avoid distractions
