Hello friend, welcome to my blog. It’s another beautiful moment to explore. Join me as I make Raggi puttu.

List the steamed dishes made in your region. Which one is your favorite and why?

Steamed foods are one of my best and the one that’s most popular in my country here and I also eat it regularly and even make it at home is moi-moi. It’s made from blended beans, onions, pepper and sometimes I add fish or eggs based on the variety.

We also have the okpa made from cowpeas popular in the eastern part of the country. There’s also abacha ugba pudding and steamed yam pudding amongst others.

Make the Raagi Puttu(Steamed Finger Millet Cake) that is shared in the course or make it as per your style, with a detailed step-by-step procedure along with images.

I prepared the Raggi puttu (steamed ginger millet cake) and the ingredients I used are:

IMG_3312.jpeg

  • Millet flour (1 cup)
  • Sugar (1 tea spoon)
  • Cinnamon sticks (instead of cardamon)
  • salt (to taste)
  • coconut

I didn’t see cardamon so I had to use cinnamon as an alternative ingredient.

Procedure

I took a cup on the millet flour and put it on a pan to roast for a while.

I poured the roasted millet flour into a plate and added salt to taste. I began to add water bit by bit and mix together until it formed balls but I made sure it wasn’t soggy.

I proceeded to put water into a pot and brought to boil. Then I put the mixed millet flour into a white cloth and put it on a plate to place in the oven. I covered it and allowed it to steam for about fifteen minutes.

I brought it down and poured it out onto a bowl. I added the ground cinnamon to the mixture and added sugar and also added the shredded coconut unto the mixture and mixed all together.

The Raggi puttu making was my first time and I totally enjoyed the process of learning and making it. I didn’t encounter any difficulties making it as I followed the procedure taught my the teacher. Its was a good delicacy as it’s different from all the steamed food I have tasted so far. I liked it.

Greetings friend, that looks delicious since it has coconut, it's one of my favorite fruits. Anything with coconut, like desserts, meals, drinks, and more, is exquisite. Good luck with that challenge!
