Joy Sweets Shop

✓ Name, location, and opening hours of the shop or street stall that sells traditional sweets.

The traditional sweet shop I selected is called Joy Mishti Shop. It is located a little far from Parbatipur town. To reach this shop, you need to go by van or rickshaw. The shop stays open from morning until 10 PM. Traditional sweets are sold here, and they taste really delicious. I personally liked that the sweets are very fresh because they are made there and sold directly. This makes the taste even better and gives a special traditional feeling.

✓ Describe the sweets, their quality, and prices.

This shop offers many kinds of traditional sweet foods such as Khejur Khaja, Bundia, Jilapi, Laddu, and more. I was happy to see that the quality of these foods is very good and the prices are also affordable. The highest price is only 10 taka, and many items are available for just 5 taka. I think the main reason for their good quality is that the sweets are made there and sold immediately. Because of this, they taste delicious, fresh, and full of traditional flavor.

✓ Payment methods.

Since these shops are traditional village shops, people usually buy everything with cash. Modern technology has not really reached these shops yet, and honestly, I do not think it will change soon. Most of the customers are village people, so everyone feels comfortable using cash for their shopping. I think this simple system also keeps the traditional atmosphere of the shop alive.

✓ Other points that you think are relevant to mention.

One of the most interesting things I noticed in this shop was that food is prepared very quickly and sold immediately. During my visit, I saw hot Jilapi being made fresh. Making Jilapi is not an easy job, and not everyone can do it well. It is usually done by skilled and experienced people. After watching the fresh hot Jilapi being prepared, I decided to eat some there.

✓ Details about its structure, environment, customer service, among others.

The structure of this shop is not very modern. It is mainly made with bamboo frames and covered with a simple roof. Even though it is simple, the shop looks open and welcoming, and I liked the overall environment. I noticed that the shop is always crowded. The owner and workers were very polite and friendly to me. Whenever someone orders food, they serve it immediately, and the items are fresh. The place can feel a little untidy at times because many people gather there, but that is also a sign of how much people love these traditional foods.

✓ If you had the opportunity to share a traditional sweet from this shop or street stall with a Steemian friend, which sweet would it be?

If I had the chance, the food I would definitely offer my friends is Khejur. It is not the date fruit from a tree, but the name of a traditional sweet food. It is made by mixing flour, frying it in oil, and then coating it with sugar syrup. I personally find it very delicious and enjoyable to eat. Many people may have already tried it because this food is commonly found in traditional village shops in our country. Whenever I visit these kinds of shops, I always like to eat it. It is soft, sweet, and very tasty.

✓ Describe the three most traditional sweets of your locality.

In our area, the three most popular traditional sweet foods are Gurer Jilapi, Mishti Khaja, and Bundia. These foods are very popular here and are also sold in many other parts of our country. Almost everyone knows these sweets. They are so tasty that whenever people visit these traditional shops, these are the foods they choose most often. I like that the quality is very good because they are made fresh and sold immediately. Because of this, they stay delicious and fresh. Another good thing is that the prices are also low and affordable.

✓ Do you prefer buying your sweets from formal shops, or do you feel that street stalls have a more homemade flavor?

Sweet Ladoo

I have bought sweet foods from modern market shops as well as from traditional village shops, and I noticed that both places offer different kinds of foods. However, in my opinion, traditional shops provide fresher and better-quality sweets at lower prices. These foods are very tasty, and they do not stay old for long because they are made and sold immediately. That is one reason why many people prefer to buy them. The biggest advantage is the low price compared to formal market shops. I personally feel that traditional shops give better value, better taste, and a chance to enjoy authentic traditional flavors. I also believe these traditional shops usually avoid the extra chemicals or preservatives that may be used in some formal market sweets.
