✓ Name, Location, and Opening Hours of the Broth & Soup Stand
Today, I am introducing a small but popular street food shop in Saidpur that can also be considered a broth or soup-based food stall, as many of its dishes are prepared using flavorful liquid bases.
The shop is called Behlpuri Store, and it is located on Shahid Dr. Zikrul Haq Road in Saidpur. The location is quite convenient, especially for people passing by or looking for quick snacks in the area.
Although the exact opening hours are not officially mentioned, shops like this usually open in the late afternoon and continue serving customers until evening or night. Based on its setup and type of food, it most likely follows this common schedule.

✓ Details About the Products, Quality, and Price
Behlpuri Store offers a variety of traditional street foods such as chotpoti, fuchka, and bhelpuri, all of which are very popular across South Asia. These items are typically prepared using a mixture of thick lentil curry (similar to a soup or stew), mashed ingredients, spices, and tangy water, creating a unique combination of flavors.
Among these, chotpoti is my personal favorite. It contains lentils, boiled eggs, chopped onions, green chilies, and fresh salad ingredients mixed with mild spices and a sour sauce. Because of these ingredients, I feel it is somewhat healthier compared to many other street foods.
The taste of the food was quite enjoyable. While it may not be top-tier in terms of flavor, it still offers a satisfying street food experience at a very affordable price.
Chotpoti: 30 BDT per plate
Fuchka: 30 BDT per plate
Price Table
| Item | Price (BDT) | Price (USD) | Price (STEEM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chotpoti | 30 BDT | 0.24 USD | 4.04 STEEM |
| Fuchka | 30 BDT | 0.24 USD | 4.04 STEEM |
Considering the price, the portion size and quality are quite reasonable, making it a budget-friendly option for students and locals.

✓ Payment Methods
The shop only accepts cash payments. Online payment options are not available, mainly because the food prices are quite low.
✓ Other Relevant Points
The signboard mentions that they serve “Old Dhaka-style” bhelpuri, chotpoti, and fuchka.
This could mean that:
- Their recipes are inspired by traditional Old Dhaka flavors, or
- The owner might be from Dhaka, or
- It could simply be a marketing strategy
The shop is small and does not have a dedicated parking facility. However, you may find space to park a bike or bicycle when it is not crowded.
✓ Details about its structure, environment, service, among others.
The shop has a very simple structure, consisting of a single room. At the front, all the ingredients are neatly arranged and visible, which gives customers a clear idea of how their food is being prepared.
Inside the shop, there are two tables and several chairs where customers can sit and enjoy their food comfortably. The environment is modest but clean, which is always important for street food places.
The shopkeeper was friendly and polite, and the service was quick. Orders are prepared right in front of the customers, adding a fresh and interactive touch to the experience.

✓ Personal Experience with Their Broth-Based Food
I tried their chotpoti, which is made with a thick lentil-based broth combined with various spices and toppings.
The taste was good, though not exceptional. It had a balanced flavor, but I think it could be improved further. When the tangy liquid (sour water) is added, it enhances the overall taste, although I personally did not enjoy their version of the sour water very much.
Still, for the price and convenience, it was a satisfying experience.

✓ What is your favorite soup or broth after a long day and how often do you eat it
My favorite is chotpoti because of its rich combination of flavors and ingredients. I have also tried Thai soup once, which I found quite interesting and enjoyable.
However, I do not eat these types of foods regularly. I usually have them once or twice a month, depending on mood and availability.
✓ Do you accompany your soup with any special ingredient (arepa, bread, lemon, hot sauce)?
If I could enhance my soup or chotpoti, I would definitely add lemon.
Lemon not only improves the taste by adding a fresh tangy flavor but also provides health benefits. It contains vitamin C and helps with digestion, making the dish both tastier and healthier.
