Most of the figs are ripe now. I do have friends that think that figs are nasty for some reason, but I like them. They are sweet and have much nutrition.

I moved into my house some 32 years ago and the fig tree was already there so I don't know how old the tree is.

Last year was not a good year for my fig tree, as I only ate one fig from it.

This year I made sure to water it more and to give it plant food. What a big difference. I think I have more figs this year than I have had in a long long time.

Did you know the fig tree was mentioned in the first part of the Bible, in Genesis? Yes, when Adam and Eve partook of the fruit of good and evil, they did understand that they were naked and they clothed themselves with fig leaves.

In the 1st book of Adam and Eve, the book mentions how Adam and Eve were given two figs by angels of God from the Garden of Eden after they were thrown out of the Garden of Eden. In the book, it is mentioned that the two figs given to them were like the size of water melons. Can you imagine eating a fig that big?

Well, in the Garden of Eden I would imagine that all the fruits there would be extremely more larger than the fruits that we have today.

Remember when Jesus looked for figs in a fig tree and the tree had no figs, just leaves? You know in the spring when the leaves come out? Well my fig tree also has its leaves come out and the fruit comes out at the same time. This is when Jesus curse the tree, as it had no fruit.

Well, that is what God is looking for in us, that we produce the fruit of the Spirit. What is the fruit of the Spirit? As it is written, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.

May we always bare the fruit of the Spirit.

So I guess I will be enjoying these figs until its season ends, God willing that is.

Lets end with scripture, as it is written, Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung. And if it bear fruit, and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. Luke 13:7-9.
