Rescue Diary - Wesley is a special needs little puppy 🐶
This transport was a pleasant surprise for us since it was a mid-week trip due to the original trip being postponed on Albuquerque. A heavy snowstorm in the Southwest had closed many roads so Wesley had to cool his heels in NM until the roads were cleared.
Now it was his time to get to his rescue.
Poor Wesley is an 8 month old Great Dane from Florida who was born with neurological issues. He had poor functioning rear legs and had problems with incontinence of both his bowels and urine (but otherwise was healthy and happy).
The owner was good enough to surrender Wesley to Be Like Josh (https://www.belikejosh.org) a rescue that specializes in dogs with neurological impairments based her in Phoenix.
This time our participation would only be from Flagstaff to just north of Phoenix (a couple of hours) but it was 2 hours of pure joy and sweetness ❤️❤️❤️.
As is usually the case, Lulu was her usual gruff Texas girl up in front who gave Wesley a good lookover before deciding that Wesley was a nice little pup.
Wesley seemed content to lay down on some fluffy pillows and watch the world pass by and enjoy all the love we could give - needless to say we were enjoying his company and all of his puppy sweetness ❤️.
Oh well, time passed and all to soon we were at the final meeting spot for his final to his new home (for now) in Mesa. We gave (and received) plenty of puppy love and 💋 before we wished him goodbye and good wishes.
Now sweet Wesley will be evaluated to determine the cause of his neurological impairments and hopefully he'll be able to get treatment and be able to carry on as a "normal" dog with a adopting family.

I thought that I would share some of my stories of my involvement with transporting/helping out rescue animals (mostly dogs). This is something that I have been doing for the past 7 years or so.
