Hello everyone!

Hey, its been a long time writing about any kind of topic related to IT , so I was researching about different topics that can change the world and I came through this interesting topic i.e Extended Reality . So lets start from the basic....

Introduction

Consider what life and work may be like in our globe in 2030 and beyond. Perhaps, thanks to advances in extended reality (XR), an umbrella word for immersive technology that can blend the physical and virtual worlds, you'll be able to shop for a new home anywhere in the world as if you were truly there, or go to lunch in a foreign location. The XR market is predicted to grow to $209 billion by 2022, which is eight times its current size. Because of this enormous expansion, the realities of our life in 2030 may be beyond our comprehension.

What is XR???

In a word, XR is "reality-plus" technology that can be used with any display. XR combines virtual reality with augmented reality.
XR stands for "extensive reality," a word that encompasses VR, AR, and MR. All XR technology affects the human-to-PC screen interface, either by

  • Immersing you in a virtual environment (VR),
  • Adding to,
  • Or augmenting the user's surroundings (AR), or combining the two (MR).

The term "XR" has been around for a long time. It initially appeared in the 1960s, when Charles Wyckoff submitted a patent for his silver-halide "XR" film, which was designed to capture extraordinarily brilliant light events like nuclear explosions.

What are the risks of XR?

We use this knowledge to incorporate ourselves into the lives of the people we design for through the iterative design process.

  • Features are based on what we know (or hope) a person will do, think, or say in a specific situation when using a product. This is a powerful statement. We can employ behavioural psychology to aid in the creation of immersive experiences.
  • Like ascending the slope of a mountain, this level of influence can bring with it a risk of the unknown; there are still some unforeseeable real-life aspects that can't be accounted for in the final output.
  • Immersion of mobile phones and weapons are dangerous.

XR VS VRXR VS AR
The term "virtual reality" (VR) refers to a subset of the term "extended reality" (XR). A virtual reality (VR) experience is one in which the user's whole field of view is occupied by the device's display.XR has a subgroup called AR. AR collects live footage of a device's surroundings and then adds visual components to it, such as a Pokémon Go figure in your living room, a tiger in Google search.

XR Examples

XR is already being used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, HR, and gaming. We're witnessing AR, VR, and MR in our daily lives under the umbrella of XR, with more applications on the way. These five XR examples just scratch the surface of what may be done with existing and future apps.

In business

With immersive technologies as part of try-before-you-buy experiences, businesses are already reaping the benefits of XR technology. For example, if you're looking for a couch online, you may see how it looks in your living room. XR technology is being used by certain shops to give you a glimpse of the real thing. As a result, returns are reduced, and the online shopping experience even outperforms the traditional shopping experience.

XR Devices

Both pricey gear like the Oculus Rift and low-cost hardware like Google Cardboard are bringing XR technology into our homes and companies. This is a simple VR device that attaches your smartphone to your face. Other notable titles include Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Tetris Effect, and Beat Saber from Playstation's PSVR.

Future Applications

Prepare for XR to profoundly alter your life over the next few years. It'll show up in sports (for example, assessing your golf game and offering advice) and in healthcare (showing your path through the hospital to the X-ray department with blinking arrows). Virtual field excursions will extend young people's horizons in new and fascinating ways in schooling. You'll even use AR maps to explore tomorrow's brick-and-mortar businesses, guiding you to the things you're looking for.

That was all for this post. Hope y'all liked this one
