RE: The Church of STEEM ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™Œ

I guess you already know, but let me summarize what is happening:

  • HF 23 went through successfully without any issues.
  • Powerdown is now possible in 4 instead of 13 weeks.
  • The account 'community321', which received the confiscated funds through the HF, was taken over/hacked by a Hive witness, who then illegally transferred the funds to 'bittrex'.
  • Some people from the Hive community pretend to be the hackers of the account and they seem to be proud of having stolen over 23M STEEM.
  • Bittrex made a public statement and we are now in the process of transferring the funds back to our community.

Beautiful 3D scene and music, thank you!

Are you proud to have taken part in the theft yourself? Why would you guys use an anonymous account anyway. If it really belongs to "the community", then why not put it into an account like the SPS where "the community" controls it as opposed to some anonymous individual. Additionally, why have these previously powered up funds immediately vailable as liquid? Where were you going to send them? You should be ashamed of yourself.

The best thing that could have happened to Steem is for those funds to be directly returned to their owners. Steem would have been rid of them. If your heist goes through, we will have them here forever.

If you really qa

I read about the hack, but if you write it yourself here, I believe it. How is that possible. Is there a back door in the code?

The account was created using 'anonsteem' and they temporarily store the Master Password on their server for the case of new users losing their keys. Now this 'safety feature' has been used to take over the account.

Probably just in a txt file with public read permissons :-).

That's highly unlikely, because the guy is a pro dev. You can even access the service on the deep web for extra anonymity. I don't know any other Steem service that offers something similar.

The facts speak for themselves and we have further proof here that 100% security is an illusion.

Excellent news! Glad to hear that the funds will be returning to the community! Awesome!!!
