Dear dairy: My Educational travel diary, Monday 1/6/26.

It was a beautiful Monday morning and also the beginning of the new month. My alarm woke me up at 5am with a warm tug on my sleepy soul. I had the slight urge to sleep in a little more but I knew it was going to ruin our plan for the day as I have already made up my mind to be up early today for our business training.

It’s the first Monday in the month and such a good coincidence thats it’s the fisrt day of the month too. What a beautiful way to start the month. Every first Monday we usually go to our office for a business training specially for real estate consultants. It has always been a beautiful moments of learning and growth that I always looked forward to.

IMG_5760.jpegReason for the day

I sat up from the bed and spent some time praying and doing my morning devotions and scripture readings. Then I hurriedly went to brush my teeth and take my bath and prepare for the journey. We were supposed to leave by 7am.

Soonest I was ready at some minutes past 7am and I stopped over at my friend’s place to call her as we were supposed to Travel together. We boarded a minibus that took us to the junction were we were supposed to take a car to the training facility.

IMG_5744.jpegOn the queue

When we got to the junction, we were met with a line up of people waiting for the cars to arrive. This was my first time of getting to the bus stop this early. Didn’t know there used to be queue.

We joined the queue and soonest a car came and the first set of persons on the queue joined the car while we waited. More persons kept coming and the queue was getting longer. I had to look for a spot to sit down while waiting for the second car.

IMG_5745.jpegFinally On our way

The sienna car came after a while, we got in and started our journey while leaving behind the others to await the next car. It was a journey of about 30 minutes . Soonest we arrived to the facility.

We took the lift t upstairs as our training place was on the fourth floor. On getting to the office, we had to sign in the register. I was the thirteenth person. The training was to begin by 9am and we got there as past 8am we spend sometime greetings our colleagues.

IMG_5759.jpegMy front seat spot

I got a spot at the front so I could a good view of the education process. By 9am on the dot, the training started with short prayers and acquaintances. The first speaker was the project manager for the company and she taught took appraisal of our work for the previous months first.

She went ahead to teach us on the difference between certificate of Occupancy and Government allocation. These are land tittles that are often misunderstood in the real estate space and most times creates confusion amongst clients who wants to invest into real estate.

IMG_5757.jpegFirst speaker teaching

After the series of teachings and questions and answers, we went over to role playing. Role playing is an act where two consultants are called to play roles. One would act as a client and the other would act as a consultant.

The consultant would try to get to know the client and convince him to invest with the company while the client would prove difficult to get. This is part of what we encounter daily as we go about our sales business.

IMG_5761.jpegRole play by colleagues

The teacher at the end of the role play would commend and also criticize the actors on places they did well and on the areas that needs improvement. We had four people act out these parts and we also learnt from them.

The came the third segment of our educational program which was another teaching by one of the speakers. He taught us on customer retentions and referral strategies. A teaching that lasted for about an hour.

IMG_5766.jpegSecond teacher
IMG_5768.jpegmore teachings

As real estate consultants, some of us have issues with retaining our clients and even getting them to reinvest with the company or referring us to their friends and family.

Clients reinvestment and referral are one of the easiest sales to make in real estate so the need for the teachings. We saw the different ways, do’s and don’ts and the mindset to have as a consultant to be able to achieve client retention and referrals and one of theming having a customer service mindset .

The educator continued his teaching while listing down things for us and writing on the white board the keys things we should take note of. It was some great moment of learning.

After the learning session came the time to reward the top 3 selling realtors for the month of May. They were called out and gifts was handed over to them from the company while we celebrated them. I look forward to the months I would also be a top selling realtor.

While all of these were going on. We were handed over a pack of small chops and soft drinks to eat as refreshment. I couldn’t wait to eat it because hunger pangs were already gnawing on me.

IMG_5778.jpegmini team meetings

After the gist session came the closing. We all stood up and said our affirmation and the meeting came to an end. I stayed back and ate my small chops before joining another mini team meeting.

After the main training, we broke ourselves into teams and we come together to strategize for the remaining part of the month on how to take our sales further. My team was comprised of four persons and there were other teams having their meetings here and there.

The mini meetings lingered for a while and at the end, we all got our stuffs and took our leave. We went to the bus stop, boarded a bus and headed back home. The journey home was a bit tedious as we are already tired from the whole day’s trainings.

IMG_5781.jpegdiner to the rescue

By the time we got home, it was already evening. I didn’t have the strength to cook anything hence I stopped over at a nearby local restaurant and got food to eat as diner. I bought swallow and afang soup.

When I got home, I refreshed myself, bathed and sat down to enjoy my dinner. After which I spent sometime online and on my blog before retiring for the day. It was the first day of the month, one dedicated to learning and growth.

You know as a senior marketing professional I can relate with your concerns and how people feel during their initial stage. I can give you a tip which will come in handy for you in the future- Never achieve 100% sales target else they will increase your next target immediately. Keep it around 90-95% which is enough. Also make it a rule to put your company 30, your clients 50 and yourself 20% beneficiary because you might change a company but clients will be yours forever. All the best.

Great tip. Thanks. Will keep that in mind

A wonderful post. It is clear from your writing and pictures that you thoroughly enjoyed the entire event and learned a lot of valuable things from it. The pictures inside the event, especially the speakers' presentations and your selfie, beautifully capture the vibrant atmosphere of the entire event. I also think the pictures of the refreshments give a glimpse of the wonderful hospitality of the event. What I liked the most was that you not only participated in the event but also expressed your determination to apply the learnings gained from it in your real life. Such knowledge-sharing sessions really enrich our thinking a lot. I last attended such an event in 2023. I have not participated in this contest so far. InshaAllah, I will participate. Best wishes for the contest. 😊

Your comments are quite elaborate and engaging. Thanks for reading through and stopping by friend.
