Have you ever entered a boat or canoe without a life jacket? I was scared to death, but it was fun because I was given insurance and assurance that it wasn't going to be a long distance since I was recreating and enjoying life in a while. When did this happen?

It happened yesterday when I went on a nature/recreational trip in another local government. Don't get bored because you're about to see the exciting part of my travel diary. My travel diary came with a unique title.

Dear Diary,

This is the start of my travel diary to a place I discovered that even nature is being cared for by humans and made beautiful by God. It all started at home.

Body and Travel Bag Preparation at Home for My Travel Experience

I woke up early in the morning and did my routine, knowing fully well that I had a mission and I had to get on it as early as possible. I can't travel to a place without looking good. I must look good, as it's not only women that are intentional about their looks, even though I'm not aspiring to marry. I took my skin care products and applied them diligently on my face after washing it with a scrub. These are the things I applied, which include serum, clover oil, sunscreen, and others.

After doing that, I took to packing my bag to leave. I wore a vintage shirt and black shorts. I then had the following contained in my travel bag:

  • food pouch
  • book
  • muffler
  • power bank and charger
  • Hand fan and other power packs.

After packing them into my bag, I wore my sneakers and embarked on my journey to Nevermore. I did trek to the junction because boarding a bike for a short distance and then paying high for it would have been annoying. On getting to the junction, which was my startup point, I entered a supermarket to do my shopping on supplies that would activate me on my travel journey.

On getting to the supermarket, I noticed their drinks were cold and my kind of cold. I purchased some energy drinks and snacks that would make my journey a wonderful one. I thought of the possibility of buying things over there and the cost because in my state, people address you by how you're dressed, and that's how you get to buy things at an exorbitant price. I purchased

1002262439.jpgChips, energy drinks etc.
  • Chips

  • Munch It

  • Power horse

  • Pepsi and some candies

After making my purchases, I paid them via transfer and then crossed the road to board a vehicle. The environment was suitable, and the weather was quite dull and clement, perfect weather for my traveling experience.

I boarded a vehicle at Oron Rd and told the bus driver to alight me at Ring Road roundabout. He said his charge was 200 naira. I hopped in and then took pictures of myself inside the bus with my travel bag. The road looked so friendly, as if nothing serious was going on. I then turned on my Google Maps and tracked the location I would be going to. While on the bus, I kept myself busy by watching a movie called Nemesis, which has actually hit the net in terms of views because of the interest it sparks.

I alighted at the roundabout by 10:13 am and paid the driver 200 naira, after which I then took pictures of the place so that my fans would know I was here and there. I then crossed to the other side of the road, which was the right-hand side of the roundabout. It was there I saw vehicles that were heading in my direction.

I boarded one of the vehicles and sat behind the vehicle. He said his charge was 300 naira. I hopped it because you don't negotiate fixed prices. I then brought out my chips and started eating them to sustain my mouth and keep it from closing for a long time. The journey was smooth, though a truck almost ran off on us; if not, the driver was really experienced. All the ladies in the vehicle were shouting, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, save me." I didn't pant because it was just a road drive. We got to our destination [Nwaniba Roundabout], and I paid him off.

After that, I boarded another vehicle that would take me directly to the attraction site, which most people call Nwaniba River. I was told a charge of 400 naira. I hopped in and then took pictures of landmarks, showing that I was in Uruan and that I had left Uyo local government area. There was a signboard, though the driver was too fast for me to capture anything. I got to the attraction site, which usually starts off with a marketplace, and then you get to see the main place.

Entering a canoe for the first time in my Life
Time11:06 Am

Everyone on the beach was just busy offloading logs of wood from the canoe that they brought from the other side of the river, and there were lots of vehicles ready to unload them in their truck. I just loved how people were just so intentional about their work. Some were mending the boat to avoid leakage; others were constructing new boats. Still others were refreshing and doing a lot of hard work.

I then met one of the sailors and told him my mission and that I wanted to recreate it with a speedboat. They told me their charge, and I hopped in. I was scared at first because I wasn't with a life jacket and the canoe was shaky. They assured me they wouldn't carry me to a far place and that anything that happened, I'd be safe. It was just a tour around the vicinity of the beach. I told them I was a student, and they respected that information a lot.

At first, I was scared, but the fear disappeared all of a sudden. I could now balance well on the boat and even took pictures with my phone. The experience was mind-blowing. I touched the splashing water with my hand and screamed out loud in excitement that I was able to conquer my fears. Something happened in the process of returning. We were stopped by a soldier who had a sniper, questioning my coverage, saying I covered him.

We drove to his checkpoint, and all the searches were done. Nothing was found. He then tried searching my bag to see if I smoke or I'm armed. They found nothing in me. I left with the boatman and then paid him off and entered the marina resort to enjoy nature.

Exploring Ibom Marina Resort

This resort was joint with the beach, and anyone can access it. The resort is just so beautiful, filled with greenery. I relaxed in the circus to observe the environment before moving into the forest to explore the place. I **observed a lot of things: soldiers walking around to ensure the safety of the place, scouts in the forest doing their thing, golfers doing their thing, and the lawn man trimming the lawn with his mower.

pictures of the place.

The experience was just gratifying. I then took a wild walk and stumbled on a big tree with holes in it. You get to see nature's oldest trees in this place. I took a break in that place, sitting on a park bench and observing the tree and other things. I brought out my energy drink and chips to refuel my body. The breeze I inhaled there was just too natural. I then explored deep down a little bit to discover nature, talking, walking, and breathing.

I was just so amazed by how creation could be this broad. I had the best meditation therapy there. I then left for home by 2pm. It was therapeutic, and I did recreate with nature and one of the most beautiful attraction sites in Akwa Ibom State.

Returning Home

I didn't want to leave early, but I had to because I had other engagements to fulfill that day. I was charged the same amount I was charged when coming. I felt like I did what I wanted to do in life. I returned home and ate. That was how my day went.

Experiences
  • Encounter with the soldiers

  • Watching nature's wildlife and insects interact and move

  • Touching the river watch while inside a boat.

  • touching the tallest tree in Akwa Ibom.

This life is one, and you must have time for yourself. It's not every day you work. Try traveling or visiting places to spend time without being stressed from work or being too busy doing certain things. Traveling can be therapeutic.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate.

I had entered a boat once but that was a speed boat and we cruised round for few minutes and that was just it. This is a serious and detailed diary travel diary. Anyways is it not you again 😂. Story teller. Your diary was well presented from beginning to end and definitely nothing to miss. It took alot of courage to be on that boat, please next time just use a life jacket. Prevention is better than cure especially if you don’t know how to swim. It’s good to know you succeeded with your vision.

It was really fun reading your travel diary. Especially the first trip in the canoe and the time spent with nature. You have describe everything in a simple and beautiful manner. This makes the entire journey feel like it is unfolding before the eyes. The best part was when you traveled through the water. Although the fear and then enjoyed the experience, it was really a memorable and happy moment which made the whole story more appealing.

Thanks for commenting on my post. It was frightening to be honest. I started imagining how deep the sea is if I fall off. But that was less worries because there was a life jacket with me

I can understand your fear. It is normal to feel nervous on the water. Then think about what could happen if you fall. Well having a life jacket with you is very important. It keeps you safe and helps you feel more secure. I wish you success and blessings. Have a nice evening.
