The Diary Game: A RAINY SATURDAY FULL OF VOLLEYBALL, FOOTBALL AND JOY. (21-09-2026)
Hello my amazing Steemit family, welcome to my another episode of the diary game with yours truly @inyangibom. I hope you all are doing great. I am very happy to share my day with you because today was not an ordinary Saturday for me. It was a Saturday that started with heavy rain, but ended with so much sweat, laughter, exercise and happiness.

If you follow my diary games, you know I love sports and I love starting my weekend with activity. So let me take you through how my day went.
MORNING: Waking Up To The Sound Of Rain
I woke up around 6:30am. The first thing I heard was rain. It was not a small rain, it was that steady morning rain that makes everywhere cold and makes you want to stay inside your blanket. I checked my phone and my friends had already sent messages in our sports group. "Guy, rain dey o, we go still play?" One said we should cancel. Another said "No, make we play for rain, e go sweet." I was confused at first because I was still feeling sleepy and the weather was very cold.
But after I brushed my teeth, washed my face and drank a cup of warm water, I told myself, "You have been sitting at home and working on your laptop all week. Today you need to move your body." So I wore my white t-shirt, my black face cap with the eye design, and my shorts, and I trekked down to our community sports area.
When I got there, I was surprised. Many people were already there! Some were standing under the veranda looking at the court, some were already inside the sand court.
MY FIRST ACTIVITY: Beach Volleyball In The Sand Court
My first activity today was volleyball, and as you can see in Picture 1 and Picture 2, we have a very fine beach volleyball court here.
The court is full of fine brown sand, bordered with blocks, with a net tied across the middle. It is located right in front of a big two-storey building with a beautiful design - cream walls with maroon pillars, a big balcony and many windows. There are palm trees and green trees around the building which makes the environment so fresh, especially after the rain.
One of the picture shows the game in full swing. This picture was taken from a different angle. You can see the whole court now. On the left side, a lady in black top and white shorts, a guy in red shirt and white shorts, a guy in blue shirt and red shorts jumping to hit the ball. On the right side, a guy in yellow shirt, a guy in white shirt and black shorts, a lady in black top and white shorts and others. Everyone was barefooted, which is the best way to play beach volleyball. We were playing mixed - guys and ladies together, which made it more fun and competitive.
We played for almost one and a half hours in the light rain. The rain was drizzling on us but we were sweating inside it. Volleyball is not an easy game. You have to jump, you have to dive, you have to serve with power, you have to block. Running and jumping inside sand is very hard, it needs double energy. By the time we played two sets, my legs were shaking and my white shirt was already dirty with sand and water, but I was so happy.
This is why I love diary game, I can share my real, active life with you.
After volleyball, we sat down to rest. We were breathing heavily, drinking water. Some of us were lying on the sand just to catch our breath. But you know the spirit of sportsmen, we don't get tired easily. We looked at the big grass field beside the volleyball court and said, "Oya, make we play football join."
AFTERNOON: Football In The Rain
The next picture shows our football session, and this one was even more intense. The field was a big green grass field, but because of the rain, it was very wet and slippery. You can see fallen leaves on the grass, and the sky was cloudy. In the background, you can see low buildings with long roofs, tall trees, and some other yellow buildings.
You can see in the picture, about 9 players on the field chasing the ball. On the left, a player in dark shirt running, in the middle a player in blue and yellow, on the right a group of four players in white, red and yellow jerseys running fast after the ball. The ball itself is small in the picture because it was moving fast.
We didn't have boots, we played barefoot too. The grass was cold on our feet, the rain was falling on our heads, but nobody complained. Every time someone fell down, we all laughed so hard and helped him up. When someone scored, we shouted like it was World Cup final.
We played football for another one hour. My whole body was now fully wet. My cap was wet, my shirt was wet and full of mud, but my heart was full of joy. I felt like a small child again - playing in the rain without worrying about anything.
Exercise in the rain has a special feeling. The air is fresh, there is no dust, no harsh sun. The cold rain cools your hot body and makes you want to run more.
EVENING: Rest, Reflection and Food
By 11:30am, we finally stopped. We were all tired. We went to the tap to wash our legs and hands, cleaned the sand from our bodies, and sat under the veranda of the big building.
We bought pure water and groundnuts, and we were just gisting about the games. Who played best, who missed the easiest ball, who fell down like a comedy. The laughter alone was worth more than the exercise.
I trekked back home around 12pm. I took a warm bath to warm my body because I was cold from the rain. After bathing, I cooked a small pot of white rice and stew with fried plantain - my favorite recovery food after sports. I ate, I rested, I pressed my phone and replied to messages on Steemit.
In the evening around 5pm, I went out again for a light walk around the compound. My legs were a bit sore from all the jumping and running, but it was a good pain. I walked for about 30 minutes just to cool down my muscles.
I came back, took my bath again, and now I am here writing my diary game for you all before I sleep.
What Today Taught Me?
Today taught me a very important lesson: Don't let weather be an excuse. Many times we say "rain is falling, I cannot go out", "sun is too much, I cannot exercise". But if you love your health, you will find a way. Today, the rain did not stop us from being active, it actually made our games more memorable and fun. It also taught me about friendship and community. Sports brings people together. In those pictures, you saw different people - different ages, different backgrounds - but we were all united by the ball. We laughed, we exercised, we encouraged each other. I am grateful for today. I moved my body, I burned calories, I laughed, and I made memories.
Thank you for reading my diary game today.
