Task 01 Share your experience about how effective the psychological counseling sessions were for you in the past weeks
For the past weeks, the psychological counseling sessions have been very effective for me which I am so excited about. At the beginning, I was unsure whether discussing my emotions and thoughts would make a difference. But as the session moved to another level, I then realised that having a safe and nonjudgmental space for me to express myself was more helpful to me.
Learning how to identify my emotion triggers is one of the benefits that I observed. Before the counseling, my reaction was usually impulsive, most especially when I am frustrated, stressed, or lost something vital. Through exercise and conversations, I became very aware of my behaviour and thinking patterns. It helps me to reduce the way I often get angry as I was able to manage my emotions.
The counselor that I met, introduced me to practical techniques such as cognitive reframing, journaling, and deep breathing that help me to manage negative thoughts and stress effectively. At the end of the session, my confidence in handling difficult situations, self-awareness, and emotional stability became improve till date.
Task 02 Discuss in detail what problems and good aspects you have understood, and what strategies you are adopting to solve the problems.
Problems I Have Understood:
Emotional Reactivity: I have understood that I often tend to respond quickly without fully looking at the situation.
Overthinking: I have understood that I usually assume the worst-case scenario.
Self Doubt: I do ask myself frequent questions about my decisions, abilities, and actions.
Difficulty Expressing Feelings: Instead of communicating my emotions I most time suppress them.
Good Aspects I Have Understood:
Strong Sense of Responsibility: I have understood that I really care deeply about my health, relationships, and work.
Willingness to Improve: I have understood that I am often open to learning and personal growth.
Resilience: I have understood that my challenges never hold me down, and I keep moving forward.
Empathy: I have understood that I can relate to others' emotions easily.
Strategy I Am Adopting:
I am using journaling to process emotions.
I am practicing pause and reflection before reacting.
I am learning how to challenge my negative thoughts with rational analysis.
The strategy of maintaining a daily routine and consistent sleep.
I am practicing how to communicate my feelings calmly rather than suppressing them.
Task 03 There will be a short story; read the story and express your own thoughts.
Based on the story of Mehvin, her main mistake was that she was constantly blaming herself and believing she was weak and unlucky. Based on her negative thinking, she couldn't continue with her job, then abandoned her work, avoided completing projects, and isolated herself which increased her insecurity by making things worse for her.
Mehvin withdrew herself from everything emotionally and lost confidence in herself instead of seeking help at the beginning. Her dad also made a mistake by not looking at her when she was struggling. Her father thought that the problem would be settled as time went on, which delayed his support for her.
Although, he acted when her situation became too critical to handle to the point she was taken to a psychiatric hospital. Mehvin’s story teaches us that emotional struggles should not be taken for granted. She wasn't weak as one may think, she was only overwhelmed and in need of support, proper guidance, and confidence.
