Today, as usual, I woke up, bathed, and got ready for work. Since my office is close to my home, I walked there and arrived by 9:00 AM. After reaching the office, I had breakfast and then focused on my work. As an electrical engineer, I went to the electrical substation to carry out my duties. I worked on urgent repairs because a unit had shut down yesterday due to a fault at the substation; power supply had been maintained through an alternative method. I resumed the repair work this morning.

I prepared the 33kV VCB for restoring the power supply after completing its maintenance. I take measurements using a Megger meter; such measurements are crucial for high-voltage lines, as the decision to energize the line depends on the Megger values. I supervise the entire repair process with my electrical team. The electrical substation is reconnected based on my decision, and I authorize the energization of the high-voltage line once I am satisfied with the Megger readings.

I checked the VCB's tripping relays and found one IDMT relay to be faulty. The IDMT relay plays a crucial role; in the event of an electrical fault, it rapidly detects the issue and cuts off the power supply, thereby preventing major electrical accidents. Since the faulty unit was an ABB relay, I proceeded to install a new one matching the specific model number. The model number is critical here, as the selection depends on factors such as electrical wiring and the physical installation space.

I resumed work after lunch. Before evening, I completed the VCB repairs and restored the power supply. Completing work on high-voltage lines gives me a sense of satisfaction. Restoring the power supply after two days of hard work brings a feeling of mental peace. I rested at the office for a while before heading home.
