One of the biggest fish markets in Dinajpur district is Parbatipur. This fish market is located in the new market of Parbatipur city. This fish market is next to the road entering Parbatipur city from the south. This market is 50 meters east of the main road. This fish market is very big and well-known, so it can be easily reached by auto or van.

This market has no specific entrance, as customers can enter from all directions. The fish market here starts at 6 am. This market remains open until midnight. All transactions are done in cash. Two types of traders can be found in this market, one is a wholesaler and the other is a retailer. Most of the fish here is locally farmed. And many fish come from the Nator's bill.

Most of the fish available in this market are pond-raised. These fish are the largest. After 1-2 years of fish farming in a pond, a fish weighs 2-3 kg. The largest of these fish were Rui fish, Katal fish, Tangra fish. The taste of these fish is very interesting. However, the price of these fish is very high. These fish are available in the market almost every day.

Wallago fish cultivated in open water are more commonly seen here. These fish are caught in various rivers of Dinajpur. After catching these fish, they are sold at the Parbatipur fish market. Here, shrimp fish are cultivated in many ponds including government ponds. The shrimp fish here are of the lumpfish species. This fish is also very tasty to eat. This fish is very expensive. Therefore, it is beyond the purchasing power of the common people. However, all the fish are chemical free.

All the fish are displayed here. You have to ask the price of these fish before buying. Here the fish is available at the lowest price. You have to go in the morning to buy fish at a low price. The very big fish are kept here with ice. These fish, however, remain fresh for up to 5 days. After that, they are kept in the refrigerator and sold but chemicals are never used.

Here, small fish are arranged on plates. The price is fixed depending on how many kilograms of fish are on the plate. These fish have to be sold within 24 hours of being collected from the pond. Therefore, if these fish are purchased after 24 hours, they are available at almost half the price. There are about 10 workers here to clean these fish. They clean one kilogram of fish for 2 steem. They run their family based on this fish business.
