Sometimes the greatest battles are not physical; they happen silently in the mind. For a long time, I believed that defending myself immediately and doubting my abilities were normal behaviors. However, over the past few weeks, the psychological counseling sessions have helped me understand that self-control and self-awareness are greater strengths than reaction and self-doubt.

Through this learning process, I discovered not only my weaknesses but also my hidden strengths.


Task 01: Share your experience about how effective the psychological counseling sessions were for you in the past weeks.

The psychological counseling sessions were truly effective for me because they changed how I think and react to situations.

Before now, I believed that defending myself immediately in every situation was necessary. If someone accused me wrongly, I would respond instantly. I felt silence meant weakness.

One day, I returned home late from work. I was expected by 9pm but arrived around 10:30pm. My guardian was angry and said things that were not even true. Normally, I would have reacted immediately to defend myself. But this time, I stayed calm. I listened. I maintained eye contact. I allowed him to finish speaking before explaining myself in a calm tone.

The situation ended peacefully.

That moment made me realize that reacting quickly often creates more conflict, while patience creates understanding.

I also learned to manage insults better. If someone curses or insults me, I now pause and think about the possible outcome before responding. Most times, silence prevents unnecessary problems.

Another example happened at my workplace when a delivery man became aggressive after I politely corrected him. Instead of arguing, I stayed calm. Later, I even bought pure water for him. He left peacefully.

These experiences prove that the counseling sessions helped me gain emotional control and maturity.


Task 02: Discuss in detail what problems and good aspects you have understood, and what strategies you are adopting to solve the problems.

Let me break it down one by one.

Problems I Discovered

One major issue I discovered within myself was negative self-talk. Whenever I faced something difficult, my first thought used to be:

I can’t do this.”
It is too hard.”
It is not possible.

This mindset made challenges look bigger than they truly were. I also realized I sometimes viewed difficulties as threats instead of opportunities to grow.


Good Aspects I Discovered

Despite these struggles, I discovered something powerful about myself: I do not give up easily.

For example, when I started learning trading, everything looked complicated and confusing. But instead of quitting, I decided to learn step by step. Over time, things became clearer.

I also discovered that I can express myself through writing. I once believed I could not write confidently, but now I can share my thoughts openly. That realization boosted my confidence.

I now understand that growth may take time, but I always get there.


Strategies I Am Using

To overcome negative thinking and emotional reactions, I now practice:

  1. Breaking tasks into smaller steps instead of trying to learn everything at once.
  2. Learning gradually, allowing myself time to understand concepts.
  3. Pausing before reacting, especially during emotional situations.
  4. Replacing negative thoughts with reminders of past achievements.

These strategies help me stay emotionally balanced and mentally focused.


Task 03: There will be a short story; read the story and express your own thoughts.

My Reflection on Mehvin’s Story

Mehvin’s story shows how powerful self-belief can be — whether positive or negative.

In my opinion, Mehvin’s biggest problem is not bad luck but her belief that she is unlucky. When a person repeatedly tells themselves that nothing works for them, the mind begins to accept it as truth. That belief then affects behavior, leading to quitting jobs, abandoning projects, and isolating oneself.

She is not weak; she is discouraged and emotionally exhausted.

There is a difference between weakness and hopelessness. Mehvin tried many things. The problem is that each failure strengthened her negative belief about herself.

Her situation also shows how important early psychological support is. Ignoring emotional struggles can make them grow into serious mental health problems.

I can relate to her feelings of doubt because I once struggled with thoughts like “I can’t do this.” But I learned that difficulty does not mean inability. Growth takes patience and persistence.

If Mehvin begins to change her inner dialogue and gradually rebuild confidence, she can recover. Strength begins when we stop labeling ourselves as weak.


Task 04: Create an infographic on the five steps of self examination

Through my learning experience, I created an infographic showing the five steps of self-examination based on my personal growth journey:

  1. Pause and Reflect – Take time to calm down before reacting.
  2. Identify Your Emotions – Understand what you are truly feeling and why.
  3. Challenge Negative Thoughts – Question beliefs like “I can’t do it.”
  4. Accept Responsibility – Acknowledge both strengths and weaknesses honestly.
  5. Plan for Growth – Break goals into small steps and improve gradually.

Conclusion

The psychological counseling sessions have helped me develop emotional intelligence, patience, and self-awareness. I now understand that reacting less and reflecting more leads to better outcomes. I also learned that self-doubt can limit growth if not challenged.

True strength is not in fighting every battle but in knowing when to stay calm. True growth is not instant but gradual. And true self-examination begins when we are honest with ourselves. This experience has reshaped my mindset, and I am committed to continuous improvement.
