SLC30-W6 | 24 Hours Travel Reporter : Service Provider Zone.
I am happy to participate in the 6th week of SLC . This week I am going to share one the historical place of our country.
What kind of Service Provider Zone have you visited? Briefly introduce it.
The service provider zone I visited is Parbatipur Junction Railway Station. It is one of the most important railway junctions in the northern part of Bangladesh and is located in Parbatipur Upazila of my favorite Dinajpur district.
This station mainly handles passenger transport, freight transport. It plays an important role in facilitating communication between different districts. Many trains pass here every day and thousands of people use this station.
This station has a total of 5 platforms and about 20 railway lines, through which various trains operate.
How were the services and history both inside and outside?
Parbatipur railway station was established during the British period and was opened in 1878.
In 1878, this station was an important part of the railway communication from Kolkata to Siliguri. Later, after the construction of Hardinge Bridge, this railway became more important and Parbatipur became a major junction. At that time, it is still known as one of the most important railway stations in Bangladesh.
There are various facilities for passengers inside the station. Such as ticket counter, waiting room for different class of ticket, platform seating, railway police for security, announcement system (micing), train schedule board. The station is open 24 hours, so passengers can avail services at any time of the day or night.
Various transport and passenger services are available outside the station. Notable among them are rickshaws and auto-rickshaws, bus or local transport, ticket counters, parking facilities, and a busy market in front of the station where passengers can buy essential items.

What are the special dishes of that place?
The food stalls in the Parbatipur railway station area have some popular dishes. Inside, there are some mobile stalls that sell nuts, chickpeas, pickles, fruits, and cucumbers. There are also singara, samucha, tea, biscuits, and dalpuri.
There are many hotels near the station where traditional food rice, fish, meat are available. The tea of Shah Hotel near the station is famous. This hotel is also famous for various types of traditional food and sweets.

In the morning, the station is crowded with passengers. Many people board the train for work or travel. Train announcements can be heard on the platform and passengers wait.
The station is somewhat quiet in the afternoon. At this time, passengers sit in the waiting room and rest and wait for the train. In the afternoon, the number of passengers increases again. Many trains come and go at this time. Long-distance train traffic is more at night. The station lights are on and there are passengers on the platform.
Because this station is active 24 hours a day, train movement and passenger activities can be seen all the time, day and night.
