Chaudda Bhavan Batagach The name itself seems to hide mystery, wonder and a strange majesty of nature. Standing in a corner of a rural town in Bangladesh, this giant banyan tree is not just a tree, but a living history, a natural architecture, and a unique symbol deeply intertwined with people's beliefs and culture.From a distance, it seems as if a huge shadowy palace stands tall. The numerous jhuris or transverse roots of the banyan tree descend to the ground and stand like poles supporting the whole tree. Together, these roots seem to form multiple “bhavans” or room like structures, and hence the name fourteen buildings.

According to the locals, the roots spread under the tree in such a way that it looks like there are fourteen separate houses or spaces.Sitting in the shade of this banyan tree, the villagers have chatted, rested, and shared stories of life for years. On hot days, this tree becomes a huge umbrella given by nature. Pedestrians come here to take a breather, farmers sit and rest between work, and it is a kingdom of play for children. Running and jumping through the roots, playing hide-and-seek all together, the tree is like a living playground.

There are various folktales surrounding the Chaudda Bhaban banyan tree. Some say that this tree is centuries old, while others believe that it has supernatural powers. Many people are afraid to approach the tree after dusk, because they think that some invisible secret is hidden here. Although these are only part of belief and imagination, they increase people's curiosity about the plant.This banyan tree is also very important in terms of nature. It maintains the balance of the local environment, serving as a shelter for numerous birds and small animals. Its large shade helps reduce the ambient temperature and creates a cool and comfortable atmosphere in the rural environment.

A lot has changed with the passage of time, but the fourteen building banyan tree still stands with its own dignity. It is not just a tree, but a tradition, a memory, and a living symbol of nature's unbreakable relationship with humans. Standing under this tree seems,Time seems to stand stil nature tells its own story.And we are listening to that story in silence.
