While weather conditions across the USA and Canada remain good for most air traffic, there are several severe delays impacting travel this afternoon.

LAS, Las Vegas McCarran International continues to have significant delays as at least one tower controller has tested positive for COVID-19. LAS is currently operating at limited capacity as there are fewer ATC controllers reporting to work than are necessary to support a full schedule of flights.

JFK, John F. Kennedy International is also dealing with limited operations as an FAA technician has tested positive for COVID-19. The tower has been closed and the remaining controllers have been moved to a different location to work as the tower is being cleaned.

PHL, Philadelphia International is holding all aircraft at their origin until after 3PM EST. I am still trying to confirm the reason for the delay program, but I sense that it is also related to COVID-19. I'll post any updates once I get more information.

Anyone who may be traveling to the east or west coast could be impacted by delays at LAS, JFK, and PHL. I would recommend avoiding these airports if possible and looking for alternative routings. You can work with your airline to make necessary changes.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE FLYING THROUGH AN IMPACTED AIRPORT TO BE AFFECTED BY THESE DELAYS! THESE DISRUPTIONS WILL BE FELT AROUND THE SYSTEM AS MORE AIRCRAFT GET DELAYED.

Air travel around the globe continues to be significantly impacted by the continued Coronavirus Pandemic. Before traveling, you should consider the health risks, closely monitor guidance and recommendations by health authorities at your destination and at home, and get up to date information from your airline about possible delays, cancellations, and changes in flight schedules.
