Hello World!
This is the START EDITION of the Photochain challenge TESTNET. The Photochain Challenge is a blockchain-like photography contest. I previously PRESENTED THE CONTEST HERE and now I will proceed presenting the rules and leaving you the possibility to join this competition. Let's go to the first step.
The contest: Basic introduction
- This is a PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST on the Steem blockchain.
- This is the TESTNET version of the contest: the contest needs an acceptable number of participants to continue. Thus, if the test phase satisfies the requirements for a good functioning, we will move on to the final version (the MAINNET version) which will continue as long as the requirements needed for good functioning are maintained.
- This contest will take place weekly.
- Inside the TESTNET, the contest will reward 2 (two) winners each week.
The Award
The total weekly prize during the TESTNET phase will be:
- 3 (three) STEEM tokens = 1.5 (one and a half) STEEM token each of the two winners;
- a 50%-upvote (approx) by me to each participant.
Every week, I will choose 2 (two) photos from the submitted ones in the comments section, and I'll mention them in the official Photochain post as the weekly winners. Each author of the winning photo will receive 1.5 (one and a half) STEEM tokens.
The prize pattern described above is for the TESTNET phase only. If we reach a MAINNET phase and if the Photochain post obtains a good payout, I'll add other two honorable mentions or a bigger prize for the winners. At the moment this is a small project, but I hope to see it grow with your contribution.
3. The Functioning
In the launch post I will mention 2 (two) subjects/objects (what I indicate as the "KEY SUBJECTS"). The participants will have a little less than 7 (seven) days - specifically, from the publication of the post (which I consider the "beginning" of the edition) to 3 (three) hours before the post payout time - to send the entry photo.
If you want to join, you will need to post a photo in the comments section, but the photo MUST CONTAIN the 2 (two) key-subjects I mention in the launch post. Each competitor can join with one photo only.
With the photo, the author (i.e. you who want to join) must add in a comment 3 (three) objects/subjects that appear in own photo: the first 2 (two) objects/subjects must be those indicated as mandatory key-subjects in the starting post, the third one must be a subject of own choice (which, just like the other two, MUST BE CONTAINED IN THE PHOTO).
At the end of the week, I will choose the 2 (two) photos that will have struck me the most and which in my opinion best represent the couple of key-subjects indicated in the launch post. Here, the blockchain-like operation starts: the third objects/subjects mentioned by the two winners will become the two key subjects of the next edition, and the participants have to propose photos that contain those two subjects. Photos that don't contain them will be considered invalid.
At this point, the cycle will start again and the new participants will have to post their photo mentioning the two Key-Subjects (which must appear in the photo) and a other key-subject different from the first two (which must be contained in the photo). The third object/subject of the photos that I will select as winners will become one of the two Key-Subjects of the following week. Then the cycle will repeat.
The only exception in which the key-subject may be changed is when unlikely or highly risky combinations jeopardize adequate participation (for example, a pair of key subjects as spaceship and wild boar). To avoid this possibility, I advise you not to use key-subjects that are too difficult to represent. In the rules section, I will try to remind you about this point.
4. The goal
The goal is to represent the two key subjects in the best possible way: not to take the most beautiful photo, but to propose the photo which, if I suddenly found myself looking at it, would bring to mind - in a clearer and more quickly way as possible - the two key-subjects. Other criteria will be used only to make decisions about winning in the case of equally deserving photos (according to the basic criteria illustrated before).
5. Practical Example
For the Zero Edition, I choose Sky and Tree as Key-Subjects. The participants comment with their work: the photo that contains the two key-subjects. The weekly contest finish and I choose the two winners.
The first winner, Gennarino, posts this:

The second winner, Ambrogetto, posts this:
indicating as key-subjects: Sky - Tree - Handrail
So, after seven days about, I'll publish an announcement post for the new weekly edition, and the words Traffic Light and Handrail will become the new key-subjects: each photo that the competitors will submit in the week must contain both Traffic Light (one, more, or simple part of it), Handrail (one, more, or simple part of it) and another object/subject of own choice that he/she have to indicate as the third key-subject.
Then I repeat the entire procedure using the new couple of key-subjects: so, each weekly contest remains connected to the result of the previous edition.
6. STEPS and RULES: first part
1) SUBMIT IN THE COMMENT SECTION:
- The photo that contains the two Key-Subjects;
- A Comment with the two Key-Subjects + another subject of your choice but CONTAINED in the photo. (If you posted the image in your blog, you can post the link to that page, but you must add your photo in the comment section anyway);
2) ONLY IF YOU WANT: mention another person you think would like this challenge;
3) NO FOLLOW, UPVOTE, RESTEEM REQUIRED;
4) WAIT FOR THE NEXT WEEK: time limit to join is to 3 hours before the edition post Payout; I'll announce the winners after that moment.
7. RULES: second part
You can join with 1 (one) photo only each edition.
The PHOTO MUST BE TAKEN BY YOU (any device, like professional camera, smartphone, and so on).
Key-subjects must consist of a single word; multiple words are allowed only if the combination indicates a well-defined object/subject (for example "street lamp").
The entry photos MUST CONTAIN the two key-subjects indicated in the launch of the edition.
The entry photos MUST CONTAIN the third key-subject indicated by the participant.
The third key-subject has to be different from the first two key-subjects.
The duration of the contest is: from the start announcement post to 3 (three) hours before the post payout time of that post.
I'll advance with the prize-sending 3 (three) days approx after the finish of the weekly edition. I'll write the transaction ID in the winners' announcements post.
Participation is open in Italian and English. Not having knowledge of different alphabets, I ask those who want to participate to first make a translation of the proposed key-subjects together with the photo.
NO PLAGIARISM!
No SPAM!
Basic editing is allowed.
Each color cover is allowed, including Black and White.
You mustn't use graphic design and/or add part of other image and/or use deep editing like Photoshop-guided rebuilding processes: this is a photography contest!
GIFs are allowed only 1) if the duration is less or equal to 10 seconds; and 2) if it represents a view of the same objects/subjects and not a rebuilt-video; and 3) if the key-subjects remain in the foreground for the whole duration of the GIF.
I ADVISE you about the photo you want to propose: there are some Law rules in each State, and I know that using photo of people or photographing private properties could get you into some troubles. Make sure you're not infringing on anyone's rights when you post your photos on the web.
Each Theme is allowed: no censorship except for extremely explicit content. The nsfw contents are allowed but, if I choose a nsfw photo as a winner, I will not insert it as an image in the official post (only as a mention or a link to the published post).
IMPORTANT: I invite the participants to use fairly large categories as subjects so as not to sabotage participation. You mustn't use proper names (of cities, places, mountains, species, etc).
Another example: don't use words like London, or Danube, or Mark, or Blue Crab; or don't use the snow bear subject, just animal or bear. Naturally, in case of equally deserving photos, I will consider a photo of an animal that isn't often photographed in a more relevant way than a simple domestic cat.
The more general the category of the meaning of the word used as a subject is, greater the participation in the competition will be, greater the prizes and the fun will be in the future.

Questo è il LANCIO UFFICIALE della TESTNET della Photochain challenge. La competizione Photochain è un contest fotografico dal funzionamento simile a una blockchain. Ho in precedenza PRESENTATO IL CONTEST QUI e ora procederò introducendo le regole e lasciandoti la possibilità di partecipare alla competizione. Iniziamo la scaletta.
Il contest: introduzione alle basi
- Questo è un CONTEST DI FOTOGRAFIA basato sulla blockchain Steem.
- Questa è la versione TESTNET del contest: il concorso necessita di un numero accettabile di partecipanti per poter continuare. Quindi, se la fase di test soddisferà i requisiti per un buon funzionamento, passeremo alla versione finale (la versione MAINNET) che continuerà finché saranno mantenuti i requisiti necessari per il corretto funzionamento.
- Questo concorso verrà lanciato approssimativamente ogni settimana.
- Durante la fase di TESTNET, il concorso premierà 2 (due) vincitori per ogni edizione.
Il montepremi
Il premio settimanale complessivo durante la fase di TESTNET sarà:
- 3 (tre) token STEEM = 1,5 token STEEM (uno STEEM e mezzo) a ciascuno dei due vincitori;
- un voto con potere del 50% (circa) da parte mia sulla foto che ogni partecipante proporrà.
Ogni settimana sceglierò 2 (due) foto tra quelle inviate nella sezione commenti, e le menzionerò nel post ufficiale di Photochain in qualità di vincitrici settimanali. Ciascun autore della foto vincitrice riceverà 1,5 token STEEM (uno STEEM e mezzo).
Il modello di premiazione sopra descritto è valido SOLTANTO per la fase TESTNET. Se raggiungeremo la fase MAINNET e se i post di Photochain otterranno un buon payout, valuterò se poter aggiungere altre menzioni d'onore o un premio più ricco per i vincitori. Al momento questo è un piccolo progetto, anche se spero di vederlo crescere con il vostro contributo.
3. Il Funzionamento
Nel post di lancio dell'edizione menzionerò 2 (due) soggetti/oggetti (quelli a cui mi riferisco con il termine "SOGGETTI CHIAVE"). I partecipanti avranno poco meno di 7 (sette) giorni - nello specifico, dalla pubblicazione del post di lancio (che considero "l'inizio") dell'edizione a 3 (tre) ore prima del pagamento del post d'inizio dell'edizione - per inviare la propria foto.
Se vorrai partecipare, dovrai pubblicare una foto nella sezione commenti, ma la foto DOVRÀ CONTENERE i 2 (due) oggetti/soggetti che ho menzionato nel post di lancio. Ogni concorrente potrà partecipare con una sola foto.
Assieme alla foto, l'autore (cioè tu che vuoi partecipare) dovrà inserire in un commento 3 (tre) oggetti/soggetti che compaiono nella propria foto: i primi 2 (due) oggetti/soggetti dovranno essere quelli indicati come soggetti-chiave obbligatori all'interno del post di partenza, il terzo dovrà essere un soggetto a propria scelta (che, esattamente come gli altri due, DOVRÀ ESSERE CONTENUTO NELLA FOTO).
A settimana conclusa, sceglierò le 2 (due) foto che più mi avranno colpito e che secondo me rappresentano al meglio la coppia di soggetti-chiave indicati nel post iniziale. Ecco, qui parte il funzionamento simil-blockchain: i terzi oggetti/soggetti menzionati dai due vincitori diventeranno i due soggetti chiave dell'edizione successiva, e i partecipanti potranno proporre foto che contengano quei due soggetti. Le foto che non li conterranno saranno ritenute non valide.
A questo punto il ciclo ricomincerà e i nuovi partecipanti dovranno postare la propria foto menzionando i due Soggetti-Chiave (che dovranno comparire nella foto) e un altro soggetto chiave diverso dai primi due (che dovrà essere presente nella foto). Il terzo oggetto/soggetto delle foto che selezionerò come vincitrici diventerà uno dei due Soggetti-Chiave della settimana successiva. Quindi il ciclo si ripeterà.
L'unica eccezione in cui potrà essere cambiato il soggetto-chiave sarà quando abbinamenti improbabili o altamente rischiosi metteranno a repentaglio un'adeguata partecipazione (ad esempio, una coppia di soggetti chiave come astronave e cinghiale). Per evitare questa eventualità, ti consiglio di non utilizzare soggetti chiave troppo difficili. Nelle sezioni riservate al regolamento tenterò di rammentarti questo punto.
4. L'obbiettivo
L'obiettivo è rappresentare i due soggetti chiave nel miglior modo possibile: non quello di scattare la foto più bella, ma quello di proporre la foto che, se all'improvviso mi trovassi a guardarla, richiamerebbe alla mente in maniera più nitida e il più velocemente possibile i due soggetti chiave. Altri criteri verranno utilizzati unicamente per prendere decisioni sulla vittoria nel caso di foto egualmente meritevoli (secondo il criterio basilare appena illustrato).
5. Esempio pratico
Per l'edizione numero zero, scelgo Cielo e Albero come soggetti chiave. I partecipanti commentano con il loro lavoro: la foto che contiene i due soggetti-chiave. Il concorso settimanale termina e scelgo i due vincitori.
Il primo vincitore, Gennarino, posta questo:
indicando come soggetti chiave: Cielo - Albero - Semaforo
Il secondo vincitore, Ambrogetto, posta questo:
indicando come soggetti chiave: Cielo - Albero - Corrimano
Quindi, dopo circa sette giorni, pubblicherò un post di annuncio per la nuova edizione settimanale, e le parole Semaforo e Corrimano diventeranno i nuovi soggetti-chiave: ogni foto che i concorrenti presenteranno nella settimana successiva dovranno contenere sia un semaforo (uno, molti, o una semplice parte di esso), sia un corrimano (uno, molti, o una semplice parte di esso), sia un altro oggetto/soggetto a scelta, che dovrà essere contenuto nella foto e che sarà considerato il terzo soggetto chiave.
L'intero procedimento si ripeterà utilizzando la nuova coppia di soggetti chiave: in questo modo, ogni edizione settimanale rimarrà collegata al risultato dell'edizione precedente.
6. PASSI da seguire e REGOLE: prima parte
1) NELLA SEZIONE COMMENTI, INVIA:
- La FOTO che contiene i due SOGGETTI CHIAVE;
- Un COMMENTO con i due Soggetti chiave + un ALTRO SOGGETTO a tua scelta che sia contenuto nella foto. (Se hai pubblicato l'immagine sul tuo blog, puoi pubblicare il link a quella pagina, ma DEVI COMUNQUE AGGIUNGERE la tua foto nel commento). La ricerca sui tag o le notifiche hanno spesso mostrato problemi e non posso garantirti che riuscirò a trovare la tua partecipazione se non segui questa procedura;
2) SOLO SE VUOI: menziona un'altra persona che ritieni possa apprezzare questa sfida;
3) NESSUN FOLLOW, UPVOTE, RESTEEM RICHIESTI (ma sarò più che felice di riceverli);
4) ASPETTA LA SETTIMANA SUCCESSIVA: il tempo limite per partecipare è fissato a 3 ore prima del pagamento del post di lancio dell'edizione; la proclamazione dei vincitori verrà effettuata dopo questo traguardo.
7. REGOLE: seconda parte
Puoi partecipare con 1 (una) sola foto per ogni edizione.
La FOTO DEVE ESSERE SCATTATA DA TE (con qualsiasi dispositivo, come fotocamera professionale, smartphone, e così via).
I soggetti chiave devono essere costituiti da una singola parola; sono consentite più parole solo se l'insieme indica un oggetto/soggetto ben definito (per esempio "street lamp" che è la traduzione inglese di "lampione")
Le foto proposte DEVONO CONTENERE i due soggetti chiave indicati nel post di lancio dell'edizione.
Le foto proposte DEVONO CONTENERE il terzo soggetto chiave indicato da ogni utente che proponga la propria foto.
Il terzo soggetto chiave deve essere diverso dai primi due soggetti chiave.
La durata del concorso va dalla pubblicazione del post di lancio di ogni edizione fino a 3 (tre) ore prima dell'orario di pagamento di quel post (che avviene circa 7 giorni dopo).
L'invio del montepremi avverrà circa 3 (tre) giorni dopo la conclusione dell'edizione settimanale. Comunicherò il codice identificativo della transazione in un commento al post di lancio dell'edizione vinta (esempio pratico: chi vincerà la 10a edizione troverà un commento sotto il post di lancio della 10a edizione, contenente il codice identificativo della transazione).
La partecipazione è aperta in lingua italiana e inglese. Non avendo conoscenze di alfabeti differenti, chiedo a chi voglia partecipare di effettuare prima una traduzione dei soggetti chiave proposti assieme alla foto.
È VIETATO IL PLAGIO!
Niente SPAM!
È consentito l'editing di base (colori, saturazioni, luci e ombre, nitidezza, contrasti, eccetera).
È consentita qualsiasi versione cromatica, incluso il bianco e nero.
Non è consentito utilizzare grafiche e/o aggiungere parti di altre immagini e/o utilizzare editing profondi come per esempio processi di ricostruzione di immagini guidati da Photoshop o da altre intelligenze artificiali: questo è un concorso fotografico!
Le GIF sono ammesse solo: 1) se la durata è inferiore o uguale a 10 secondi; e 2) se rappresenta un'inquadratura degli stessi soggetti/oggetti e non un montaggio video; e 3) se i soggetti-chiave rimangono in primo piano per tutta la durata della GIF.
UN CONSIGLIO riguardante la foto che vuoi proporre: ci sono alcune norme di Legge in ogni Stato, e so che usare foto di persone o fotografare proprietà private potrebbe metterti nei guai. Assicurati di non violare i diritti di nessuno quando pubblichi le tue foto su Internet.
Ogni Tema è consentito: nessuna censura, tranne che per contenuti estremamente espliciti. I contenuti nsfw sono ammessi ma, se scelgo come vincitrice una foto nsfw, non la inserirò come immagine nel post ufficiale (ma soltanto come menzione e con un link al post pubblicato).
IMPORTANTE: ho invitato e invito i partecipanti a utilizzare come soggetti chiave categorie abbastanza ampie e "generaliste", così da non sabotare la partecipazione. Non è consentito usare nomi propri (di città, luoghi, montagne, specie, ecc.).
Un altro esempio: non utilizzare parole come Londra, o Danubio, o Mark, o Granchio blu; oppure non utilizzare l'oggetto orso delle nevi, ma soltanto animale o orso. Naturalmente, a parità di risultato, considererò più meritevole la foto di un animale che non viene fotografato spesso rispetto ad un semplice gatto domestico.
Più la categoria del significato della parola che userai come soggetto chiave sarà generale e ampia, maggiore sarà la partecipazione al contest, maggiore sarà quindi il divertimento e il montepremi per le edizioni future.

Thanks! I just looked, and it's still having a lot of trouble with the API, though. It's doing some things, but still seeing a lot of failures. I think that the API is still not reliable enough for use at this point.
I hope the situation can improve.
Unfortunately, @penny4thoughts is still catching up from the outage, and I have decided to retire the service. After it gets totally caught up, I'll look over the history and make sure that none of the distributions were missed as a result of the disruption. Once that's done, I'll be taking it offline permanently, so please don't set any more beneficiary settings for that account.

This is a photo taken at the Deutsch Eck or German Corner in Germany 2 winters ago when my daughter visited the place.
