Legend has it that seeing the sunrise over Meili Snow Mountain just once will bring good luck for an entire year. 🍀

A week in advance, I checked a forecast account for the likelihood of seeing the sunrise in mid to late October and even downloaded an astronomy app to monitor the cloud cover. I really did my homework. I deliberately stayed in Lijiang for a week, avoiding the days with lower chances. Finally, on my fourth visit to Meili Snow Mountain, I witnessed the most spectacular sunrise I've ever seen during my travels! Photos and videos can't fully capture the awe-inspiring sight. Kawagebo stood before us without any clouds obscuring its view, clearly and openly revealing its true form. From the early twilight to the first hints of blue, and then to its golden glow—each moment was pure and beautiful. As someone who absolutely hates waking up early for sunrises, I can honestly say today’s early rise was pure happiness!
