1000 DAYS OF STEEM — The Diary Game - 16/11/2025 - Another animal problem...

I went for a stroll around my garden after the disaster at the end of August. There have been no more torrential rains or other natural disasters, like tornadoes or the like, which is why the vegetables have grown to the point where some are ready for harvest. Unfortunately, we're not the only ones who know about this...

In the height of summer, some of you may remember the incident I'm about to remind you of, we had to deal with an attack by a particular animal, a porcupine, which at a certain point began eating the melons we'd planted. It killed, if I remember correctly, four or five of them. Now, another small calamity, caused by one or more animals I find much less sympathetic than the spiny creature...

Mice, damned mice, they started eating the fennel, one after the other, killing a total of 6 of them. Now we're thinking of some kind of trap. Why go to all this trouble to have these ignorant rodents eat the fruits of our labors? Honestly, no way!

It didn't take us long to realize something wasn't right. Initially, we thought it might be someone just enjoying stealing our vegetables, but there are unmistakable signs that they're actually mice. They're not exactly friendly, as they're formidable predators. They're really getting on our nerves with their constant gnawing. Not a day goes by without them killing a fennel. Enough now, tomorrow I'm going to a specialty shop to set some traps...

The strange thing is that they've only targeted fennel. There should be other vegetables that, theoretically, could attract their attention, but they started from one point and are continuing in a specific direction, to the point that I'll place the trap in a couple of spots that they should be touching soon. I hope they're so stupid they end up in that specific spot...

Sono andato a fare un giretto, nell'orto di casa, dopo il disastro di fine agosto, non ci sono state più piogge torrenziali o altre calamità naturali, tipo trombe d'aria o similari, ragion per cui le verdure sono cresciute a tal punto che una parte di loro sono pronte per la raccolta, purtroppo non siamo gli unici ad essere al corrente di questo fatto...

In piena estate, forse qualcuno di voi ricorderà il fatto che sto per rinfrescare alla memoria, abbiamo dovuto registrare un attacco da parte di un animale particolare, l'istrice, che ha incominciato da un certo momento in poi a mangiare i meloni che avevamo piantato, ce ne ha fatti fuori, se non ricordo male, 4 o 5, adesso un'altra piccola calamità, a causa di uno o più animali che mi sono molto meno simpatici rispetto allo spinoso essere...

Topi, maledetti sorci, hanno incominciato a mangiare i finocchi, uno dopo l'altro, ne hanno fatti fuori ben 6, adesso stiamo pensando a una qualche specie di trappola, perché fare tanta fatica per farsi mangiare il frutto dei nostri sforzi da questi roditori ignoranti, sinceramente parlando, anche no!!

Non ci abbiamo messo più di tanto, a renderci conto che ci fosse un qualcosa che non andava per il verso giusto, inizialmente abbiamo pensato che si potesse trattare anche di qualcuno, che si divertiva a rubarci la verdura, ma inequivocabilmente ci sono dei segnali ben precisi che si tratta, al contrario, proprio di topi, che di simpatico non hanno proprio nulla, in quanto sono dei formidabili predatori, che hanno proprio rotto le palle, con il loro rosicchiare continuo, non passa giorno in cui non fanno fuori un finocchio, adesso basta, domani vado a sentire in un negozio specializzato per mettere qualche trappola...

La cosa strana è che si sono accaniti unicamente sui finocchi, ci dovrebbero essere anche altre verdure che, in linea teorica, potrebbero attirare le loro attenzioni, ma sono partiti da un punto e stanno continuando in una specifica direzione, al punto tale che la trappola la posizionerò in un paio di punti che dovrebbero essere toccati prossimamente da loro, mi auguro che siano talmente imbecilli che vadano a finire proprio in quel determinato punto...
