Well, I think those stories are better told from someone who has lived at those difficult times. They would be able to provide a different perspective than what is written in books about that period of time. Maybe a little bit of personal experience too.
Now there are fewer and fewer people who can tell it, luckily they did it while they were alive.
They leave us the testimony of a bad period of history and it's up to us to keep their memory alive.
