Glad that this day belongs to my brave nation. If you know the history of Language Movement on 1952 of Bangladesh, you know the source of this day as International Mother Language day. I proud of our brave souls who sacrificed their precious life for saving their mother tongue. Let me share the history briefly, it was 1952 when Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan.

West Pakistan (Currently only Pakistan) rulers wanted to establish Urdu in East Pakistan (Currently only Bangladesh). But at that time our language was Bangla and our brave sons of this motherland protest against this injustice, it felt like rulers forcefully wanted to establish their language Urdu for Bangladesh.

Unfortunately, the protest cause the death of some brave sons of Bangladesh as police gun fire during the protest. We still remember those brave souls as the martyr and we established Martyr Monument for them to show our love and respect every year. This history inspire us as brave nation and we proud that language day observed on this day when we have a unforgettable history behind this day.

International Mother Language Day is observed annually on February 21. The first observance was organized by UNESCO as a celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity. There are over 7,000 languages spoken in the world — this is a large number considering that some languages are better documented and more spoken than others. Learn More

Sono felice che questo giorno appartenga alla mia coraggiosa nazione. Se conoscete la storia del Movimento Linguistico del 1952 in Bangladesh, sapete anche l'origine di questa giornata come Giornata Internazionale della Lingua Madre. Sono orgoglioso delle nostre anime coraggiose che hanno sacrificato la loro preziosa vita per salvare la loro lingua madre. Permettetemi di raccontarvi brevemente la storia: era il 1952, quando il Bangladesh era conosciuto come Pakistan Orientale.

I governanti del Pakistan Occidentale (attualmente solo Pakistan) volevano introdurre l'urdu nel Pakistan Orientale (attualmente solo Bangladesh). Ma a quel tempo la nostra lingua era il bengalese e i nostri coraggiosi figli di questa madrepatria protestarono contro questa ingiustizia, sembrava che i governanti volessero con forza istituire la loro lingua, l'urdu, per il Bangladesh.

Purtroppo, la protesta causò la morte di alcuni coraggiosi figli del Bangladesh, colpiti dagli spari della polizia durante la protesta. Ricordiamo ancora quelle anime coraggiose come martiri e abbiamo eretto un Monumento ai Martiri per dimostrare loro il nostro amore e rispetto ogni anno. Questa storia ci ispira come nazione coraggiosa e siamo orgogliosi che la Giornata della Lingua venga celebrata in questo giorno, perché abbiamo alle spalle una storia indimenticabile.

La Giornata Internazionale della Lingua Madre si celebra ogni anno il 21 febbraio. La prima celebrazione è stata organizzata dall'UNESCO per celebrare la diversità linguistica e culturale. Nel mondo si parlano oltre 7.000 lingue: un numero elevato, considerando che alcune sono meglio documentate e più parlate di altre. Scopri di più
