The roof of the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul (Turkey), is a history lesson in itself. The intricate brickwork, mesmerising in its rhythm and precision, was designed not just for beauty but for strength, allowing the bazaar to endure fires, earthquakes and time itself. Standing under these arches, you can almost feel the heartbeat of old Istanbul echoing through every curve and pattern.
