Most of the things I've learned in life have only been through travel. I had a lot of problems in school for a number of reasons and I was used to memorizing the material and then forgetting everything - something that didn't leave any lasting knowledge in my head and then everything had to be rediscovered.😃 And the fact that you had no idea about this region is completely normal. After all, you live on another continent. Although I'm not sure that many Europeans know this on a daily basis, just like that. There are so many peculiarities in all the countries here...
