Several types of needle dragonflies, especially males, have striking body and wing colors as shown in the picture. Needle dragonflies have a different lifestyle from ordinary insects, needle dragonflies often play in clean places. These animals are often found in water sources such as swamps, rivers, lakes or rice fields. They always choose to settle in areas that have clean and uncontaminated water sources so they can lay their eggs safely and their lives are not threatened. Because needle dragonflies are very easy to get threats from other predatory insects because they have a slow flight movement.

The needle dragonfly belongs to the Zygoptera sibordo, the needle dragonfly has a slender body the size of a needle. There are many other differences with ancient dragonflies that have normal body sizes (Anisoptera). Needle dragonflies have slower flight movements than ancient dragonflies. This animal is a type of insect that does not have a cocoon stage in its development. The needle dragonfly has three leaf-like gills at the end of its abdomen, while ancient dragonflies have gills on the inside.
