New Year Resolution (2024)

Hello dear steemians. It's my first post on this platform to which I’m introduced by none other than @soulfuldreamer. Wishfully thinking that it will resonate with someone.

Another year has begun, now that I look back at the year 2023, it had been a dull one. Not pursuing anything that I love or is obsessed with. I’ve never been the person who can keep up with her hobbies I start doing something and then leave it after sometime never excelling at anything. It’s not a very good quality in a person to be honest and I detest it about myself. Over the years, I started developing an interest in few past times and within the course of three months just stop doing it anymore. I keep on wondering why I am like that. Why I abandon the things that I’m passionate about?
Or is it the same with everyone can anyone relate to that?

Started water coloring for a while left it high and dry and many more of my hobbies just deserted without seeing them through. How many times I’ve started something new spending hours obsessing about it. I began experimenting with a few software like Photoshop and Illustrator and managed to get a hang of it. But left it without ever looking back. Ended up discarding all my work, here is the only glimpse of what once was the reason of me getting up. Locked in front of my computer screen for hours trying to achieve the perfection that I clearly lacked ;).

reminder dont give up!!!.jpg

Then the other big thing was when I started learning about video editing. Once again went through the whole ordeal of learning and creating fan videos out of the shows or movies that I loved. Even started posting on my Youtube channel “World of a Stan”. But then again came the big halt and me losing interest just like that. Why can’t I be consistent? Here is my tribute to John Wick one of the meaning less action packed blockbuster, but O boy did I love it with all my heart have watched all four of them. I myself am surprised that I’m a fan/Stan ;) of an action packed film because I usually don’t prefer such movies unless I have to watch them with my husband.

But this year in 2024 once again I have started this new hobby Blogging/Writing and may God help me I want it to last. This is my new year’s resolution to which 9 days have already passed to which I may remain motivated. May we all be inspired to produce something new and influence each other with our creativity. And here’s to the hope for once sticking up to something that I find entertaining. A gentle reminder to be patient and give it the time and respect that it needs without worrying about the outcome. Signing off for now with this little piece I wrote a while ago not much but my silly musings. This one is for the glimmering hope and new beginnings.

Hope and Happiness

Flicker of hope is like a ray of light
One moment it’s there and the other it’s not
That’s how life has always been dark
But a little light seeps through it
Paving the path to unknown places
Almost like a dream or my imagination
Do I mind it? No, definitely not
That’s how it has always been
Happiness in small doses while worries
always bundled up and in abundance
Don’t you tell me how it feels?
Those who have been given in small doses
Know the worth of tiny things
And you may never get what it’s like
It’s like a tear drop in the ocean
Like a bird in the sky
Like a strangled paper in the pile of lies
That strangled paper might contain the truth
But never given the chance to be viewed.
That’s how hope and happiness have been for me,
Always like a ray of sunshine,
seeping through the window
but never really getting in

A warm welcome to this crazy bunch - to the world of Steem, which you sometimes hate and then love, just won't let go...

I can identify with your "three-month problem". I also know what it's like to be on fire for something, achieve insanely good results and then quickly lose interest. For whatever reason... 🤷‍♀️

Well then, I've been loyal to Steem for six years. Of course, my fascination and, of course, the quality of my own blog have been and continue to be subject to constant development. Not necessarily in a positive direction, but I'm still here... ;-)

I wish you lots of fun and perseverance. Above all, patience. A lot of patience... :-))

Warm regards from an extremely cold northern Germany these days,
Chriddi

Thanks for the warm welcome and wishes :)

which you sometimes hate and love, just won’t let go…

I can already relate to that. Wow six years is a mark worth celebrating i wish i could be that consistent. Sorry for late replies i’ll have to wait for my steem power to charge.
Kind Regards from Pakistan

Wow six years is a mark worth celebrating

Nope, I did not celebrate. Just mentioned the fact a very small line.

i’ll have to wait for my steem power to charge.

Gosh, I had almost forgotten all about this harassment for newbies.
I'll give you a little help to get started so that you no longer have these problems.
The delegation is unconditional for three months, unless you are inactive.
Use it well (i.e. vote diligently (at least 10 votes per day)) and you will receive Curation Rewards. Every little Steem makes SP, Maan will explain the rest to you... ;-)

Wow really grateful for this help.

Use it well (i.e. vote diligently (at least 10 votes per day)) and you will receive Curation Rewards. Every little Steem makes SP, Maan will explain the rest to you... ;-)

Will use it responsibly and Maan has already helped me a lot was being very patient with my silly questions ;)

silly questions

There are no silly questions, only silly answers... ;-)

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I always keep an eye on comments, so that a question, wherever it is asked, doesn't get lost.

Will definitely ask if something comes up :)). Glad to find you on this platform as I’ve heard a lot of good things from Maan

Maan will explain the rest to you... ;-)

Aww, thank you so much for having confidence in me and trusting me with this. I tried to explain things to beyondhersmile to the best of my understanding. I believe I covered at least what I knew. She is always welcome to ask anything.

She has already powered up her first two steems, she won in the contest. 😜 I felt good about my tutorial last night, which I got from me mentor once. (Though my arrows were not cute enough).
Remember when I mentioned wanting to embody the same level of goodness as you one day? Well, I believed this is just a teeny tiny try. I hope I can be a multiplier 🤞

Of course I remember. And I'm sure you also remember that I replied with "You will go your own way". It's just like this: 100 users, 100 different approaches and attitudes. You will have already realised that just from those (especially the old-established ones) with whom you communicate. None of them act in the same way, you will recognise something that doesn't suit you at each account in the long run. And that's a good thing, after all, we're not into this "one-size-fits-all" approach.

I hope I can be a multiplier

You will. Nevertheless: 100 users, 100 settings... ;-)

And that's a good thing, after all, we're not into this "one-size-fits-all" approach

That's not a good thing, that's the best thing. And yes I remember. (Or I can always go back to our dialogue, which I keep doing now and then).

All different approaches, all different settings, all different routes - one thing is consistent: conscience and conscience posting. That's the takeaway point.

Rest is all the... beauty of diversity! And I am too much into diversity, I thrive on it...

Not necessarily in a positive direction, but I'm still here... ;-)

I agree to disagree! I could only see positives :)

Steemit is sometimes like experiencing 'good hair days and bad hair days'! Although effort is invested in dialogue, response, and engagement, it is occasionally influenced by our own mood. There are days when you may not feel like writing or interacting, but then the little red notification number motivates you to see what the chaos is all about.

I appreciate your role as a mentor and your welcoming of potential talent. Still, I also want to express my gratitude for welcoming a friend and contributing to her post.

Many regards,
Maan

I could only see positives

Thank you. But I was significantly "better". Back then, when I still met my own standards... ;-D

but then the little red notification number motivates you

With respect - I'm out of that bracket...

You're some kind of high-flyer, you've had a pretty stellar career in three months. And you've immersed yourself in the subject matter, you're a quick learner. I'm sure you also have some assumptions because you read a lot, but you haven't yet experienced the "abysses" of Steem for yourself.

Did you come across the interview while browsing my blog? A few more insights, a bit of history.

Your friend?! (Joke. Of course I read this.)
Well, just trusting in good resteems... ;-)

O you got me wrong.
It was a personal remark about you (I saw the positives in you).

but you haven't yet experienced the "abysses" of Steem for yourself

Did I not? 😉

I can't wait to read the interview. A little pressed on time.
I'm going to read it with my feet up, Infront of heater, all cozy. Just can't wait to read it now.

Many many regards,
Yours truly

Did I not?

No. Partially at most... ;-)

I can't don't want to doubt your judgement :) I like you so much 😘

I agree respectfully 🙏

I think you meant first post in WOX :)

You possess a talent; give it a polish now and then. Don't worry too much about whether it is appreciated by someone or not. You will surely enjoy the process.

It's all about enjoying what you are doing, coupled with a positive attitude. I hope you stay motivated for a long time.

You don't have to take it on your nerves. Just go with the flow.

Best of luck 🤞

Oops I meant WOX.

You possess a talent; give it a polish now and then.

That's mighty kind of you but not as talented as you are though ;) Thanks for the wishes.

Hello. A lot of people find it hard to stay committed to the projects they start, usually because new things appear and get their attention, or just because they slowly lose interest.

To this issue I would suggest using a system, such as Tiago Forte's PARA in order to build your "second brain" and be able to better plan your projects and even your life.

Regarding losing interest, I believe burnout is so common, although you don't specify why it is you stop doing your hobbies. The thing is we usually need a break. But if we don't properly plan it, it can become an indefinite one, if that makes any sense. So the key in my opinion is proper habit formation and planning.

Hope this helps.

Hi, you are right a lot of distractions these days the real giant is social media let's not dive into this debate. I would definitely look into PARA. I agree with the burnout part may be a break was what I needed at that time as far as the reason is concerned it's just that one day you wake up and find it all meaningless kind of a thing with me. But if comes to that then next time I would consider taking a break rather than not getting back to it. Thanks for all the useful tips.

No problem. I believe methods such as PARA or GTD could be overwhelming to learn; however, it could be worth it. I personally use my own system, inspired by the ones mentioned before.

I personally use my own

You should write a post about your own strategy, if there isn’t one already.

Yes, that's in my to dos :)

Hi @beyondhersmile, I'm glad to welcome you to the WORLD OF XPILAR community. It's an open and tolerant community where you can post creative content or whatever you like. I hope you will find a readership and first support here.

But this year in 2024 once again I have started this new hobby Blogging/Writing and may God help me I want it to last.

I hope you found something that will stay with you for a long time.

Hello thanks for welcoming me

It's an open and tolerant community

I can already feel that thanks for all the support, for a newbie like me it's a big thing. Looking forward to have a good time here.

There are a lot of things I like to do - knitting, baking, sewing. For a limited time. Short-term attraction. And then it's done for a long, long time.

Other things - riding, gardening, writing, playing chess - remain a permanent source of regeneration and are part of me.

Try it out on the Steem: you'll feel it clearly at some point - either it's your thing or you let it slide... I welcome it when you settle down here ;-)))

riding, gardening, writing, playing chess - remain a permanent source of regeneration and are part of me.

Wow lots of past times, impressive. I can say that about books because no matter how long a break I take, I always keep getting back to it. Even if it is just the comfort reading "Harry Potter" ;)

Congratulations, your post has been upvoted with a bonus by @o1eh,
which is a curating account for the WOX Community.
