Keeping it Real!

in WORLD OF XPILAR17 hours ago

These days, I'm finding it harder and harder to determine whether what I am looking at is AI generated slop, or something "real."

Perhaps what I find a little distressing in it all is that a lot of people don't really seem to care, as long as they are entertained. And that — in itself — gets a little depressing in the sense that I sometimes feel like I am rapidly taking on "relic of the past" status.

I'm a writer.

I enjoy the actual writing process, as part of being a creative individual.

I think that what I like most about being a writer and keeping it real is the fact that I examine reality as it exists, compared to most things people are using AI to create which is mostly some kind of "fantasy" or perhaps how those people wish reality was unfolding.

But wishful thinking does not create a reality. And — what's more — it tends to misinform, and it creates a lot more work for those of us who end up giving up valuable time to reasearch something, only to discover that it was someone's pure fabrication, created solely for the purpose of getting a few page views.

Small wonder I can't shake the feeling that we are slowly getting closer and closer to the world portrayed in the 2006 cult movie "Idiocracy."

Something is headed in a scary direction when even the President of the United States uses AI generated fantasies to get his points across. And nobody seriously protests, either!

In some odd way, I sometimes end up wondering whether I'm the idiot in the equation for sticking to my "old ways," rather than just caving in and going with the mainstream flow.

Heck, I even sit here in our own Steemit community and watch the "new posts" feed go by and a remarkable number of posts that come through are either AI generated or certainly AI aided.

I suppose that I shouldn't worry.

But I do. Mostly, I owrry that the real is gradually ending up looking "primitive and simplistic" because it's not as "fancy" as what you can generate with an AI engine. And so, those of us still using our brains to think and our fingers to type will increasingly get overlooked.

Makes me wonder whether this is what old-time typesetters felt when digital printing became a reality!

I try not to worry too much... but I will continue to talk about it!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your week!

How about YOU? Do you ever use AI to help with your posts? Or do you stick to "human created" creativity? Leave a comment if you feel so inclined — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!
