RE: Friday thoughts: Steem, Hive, Blurt … and integration of TRX in Steemit wallet

in WORLD OF XPILAR4 years ago

Dear @stef1, thanks for your thoughtful post...

A long time ago, you might remember the first "clone" called WEKU that split off because some people were unhappy with the way Steemit was going. Weku was helped to a fast start by the messed up hardfork that made Steem unusable for about a week... but even so, it represented a "split."

The problem with division, as you wrote, is that we also tend to end up with dilution. There are simply fewer people to go around to make content. Building a community takes a lot of effort... you can't just open up, declare "Here we are" and expect thousands of people. In different ways, both Steem and Hive suffer from similar issues... poorly defined reasons for "what are we trying to DO/BE, here?"

It reminds me of revolutionary governments in small so-called "Banana Republics:" everybody want's to overthrow the government, but nobody actually wants to RUN the country.

I am still publishing content on both chains... actually all three now. I make UNIQUE posts for each — no cross posting. As I have shared with you before, I plan to continue doing that, as long as I still sense "life" in each place. But nobody wants to publish to a zero audience. And with each passing week, I feel like I fall a little more out of touch with Steem, sadly...

I am not sure what is going to happen with this TRON wallet/token crossover... like @groan wrote, I find myself puzzled why there is not an official news announcement from Steem/Steemit directly? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Hi @denmarkguy, I remember the time of WEKU, actually it was quite active for a while, although again we were not there, just created the account with our account name so it is reserved.

I absolutely agree with you that for many bloggers to write into empty audience is no sense. As a humans we are a social animal we need to communicate, share our views and hear opinions, discuss and probably debate. That is what makes a great community and that is something we have much less on Steem and more in Hive.

I know many people have not that a stimulus and in the "standby" mode, they are still around, probably upvoting but do not spend much time like before. But this is until the moment when the price of one or another will go up.

Due to reward scheme of our platform people's activity will depend on that very much. But on other hand they obviously do not know that when the activity of users are low as well as price the reward pool is much higher. Therefore, even though they see a small reward the payout is bigger then people would be receiving if the price would be higher.

In my opinion it is a shame that Steemit Team is not acting as a center of News and Updates as should be, because keeping silence made many people to leave recently. That is why if I see something new or potential good for Steem I try to do post about with the hope that people will read and might do with this news something. We are all on this boat and should make our best to reach a save harbor. Thank you for stopping by and I really appreciate your contribution to the discussion :)
