RE: The Future of Steem: Community Building is a Complicated Business!
I appreciate the encouraging words!
Communities are essential, to be sure. Let's consider how people USE the web, and social media. These days, very few people talk about being "ON Facebook" as a standalone idea. Most users have Facebook accounts so they can access groups or pages they are interested in. Nobody says "Join Facebook," people say "find my PAGE on Facebook," or perhaps "Join XYZ community on Facebook!" The base level Facebook has just become a framework, but not the star of the show. I believe Steemit is moving in that direction, as well... people will become directed towards country communities or interest groups, with Steemit merely being the "wrapper."
I'll probably write more about that, and on the code end, there might also be a place to support community development via subdomains: For example, the post was created via the Xpilar community... but for marketing purposes, why not have an actual domain called "xpilar.steemit.com?" Or any number of other things.... aceh.steemit.com, foodies.steemit.com, etc. Again, too much to explore and explain in a comment...
And then, the all-important issue of retention. It doesn't mean much to get a bunch of accounts created if their owners aren't actually active.
Agree very much. It will be good to see new developments.
We hope we will see more developments emerging from community developers as in the past with the likes of SteemPeak and SteemPress. Hopefully SteemField will be able to do that.
We look out to reward such endeavours and we are looking for a new set of community developers to come forward.
Thank you re the subdomain idea - we are exploring to see if that can be readily implemented.
Thank you
Hello @steemcurator01, I just recently reached 5,000SP and it's many thanks to you and the rest of the steemit team.
I'm planning to try out delegations for the first time and I'm impressed with @upvu in particular. I've made an enquiry and I found their offer very lucrative only that it includes daily upvotes.
Please what do you think? Is it vote buying? Or is the upvote just an extra given to a delegator in addition to daily steem tokens?
Thanks.
Why not curate yourself with your Steem Power, or delegate to one of the Communities if you don't want to do the curation yourself.
You are welcome to delegate to upvu, but we do not generally vote on posts voted for by upvu as it is not Proof of Brain.
Definitely.
You're completely understood. I guess I choose the 'curate myself' option.
Thanks @steemcurator01 for your time.
