Steemit and Limited Functionality...

in WORLD OF XPILAR18 hours ago

I am going to attempt to write a post... but I must admit that I am not too hopeful, given the recent instability of the Steemit web site.

Seems like there is often something slightly wrong these days, and it makes publishing and curating rather difficult.

I'm trying not to get too frustrated with it. I some sense it reminds me a bit of "old days" online when it was often touch-and-go whether any one website you visited was actually in working order, at any given moment. You learned to save your work to a separate external file before clicking "publish," just in case the Internet Gremlins broke something.

If nothing else, we learned a huge amount of patience, because there was really not much else you could do.

Of course, it's 25 years later, and I'd like to think that we should expect better... but I feel hesitant to have any expectations, at all!

Still, it does seem a little absurd that every other time I try to load my blog, I get an "Unknown User" message, or something similar.

I suppose it's just part of the "joy" of decentralization that there's not some centralize dedicated IT department sitting around, ready to jump into action the moment anything goes sideways, because company policy dictates that 99.95% uptime must be maintained... or else.

Here we have multi-national witnesses in different time zones, each trying to coordinate that their nodes are working, both individually as well as part of the whole.

As we wind down another year, I am also inching closer to my 9th anniversary as part of this community... and it definitely has been a rather bumpy ride, from time to time.

But hey, we're still here!

In my original intro post I even expressed doubts about how long I thought this would last... and it definitely turned out that I was quite wrong about the end being imminent!

So far, I really haven't made any goals or plans for 2026.

To some degree, that's because my overall existence is a little unstable and unpredictable, and I'm hesitant to commit to a plan that might have to be suddenly changed, at a moment's notice... even though that's often life, itself.

The only difference being that in life we at least get to assume that things might go according to plan, rather than assume that nothing will be as expected.

Life is often ironic in the sense that we might wish and strive our entire lives for something — in my case, a measure of stability — and yet we repeatedly end up with the exact opposite!

I'm sure there's a lifelesson buried there...

On that light note, let's see if I can actually publish this!

Thanks for coming to visit, and have a great remainder of your week!

Dear @danmarkguy... those "good old days" where everything went slooooow. It took me ages to load steemit.com till the apps arrived and then disappeared. Patience is what I kind of learned, and doing other things in between.
For sure, Steemit became faster just not in December but if you use a different site, you can get in, post, comment and reply (just a pity most Steemians can't, and IP addresses are blocked because of the many bots enjoying themselves with the servers).
In a way, it will all be resolved or simply proceed as it should. The fact is no matter the issues I stayed, and so did you. I assume Steemit is worth the time or annoyance and the "addiction" to be here still wins.

I wish you what you need most, today and in the future.
