All in all, I wouldn't change the self-employed life I have for my former life in the IT industry... regardless of the economic uncertainty that comes with not having a reliable paycheck and dealing with fickle customers in an unstable economy. Sometimes it's a bit touch-and-go with being able to afford the basics — the US is getting ridiculously expensive — but it's still a good life.
