INTRODUCTION

Hi members of world of xpilar, greetings from me, @destinedhanik to you all. I'm glad to be participating in this contest by @adeljose on glasses. I hope you get entertained and learn from me.

THE PERCEPTION OF GLASSES DURING MY CHILDHOOD

Glasses, whether sun glasses, lenses, sport glasses wasn't really common when I was a child. There was this perception especially about lenses or correcting glasses that those who wore it must be very intelligent or very rich. I grew up with this perception and in a way it affected me. I'll explain how.

Do you know that some of us even envied those people wearing glasses but I didn't know I'll one day wear it. I envied then but I never planned to wear it in my life. Glasses are unique because it comes in different designs so one has to go for what fits one.

MY STORY ON GLASSES

I started having issues with my eyes when I was in grade 4. I was about 9 years old then but I don't know if It was due to intimidation or fear, I never infirmed my parents. I used to manage my eyes and strain my eyes and I managed it all through my high school. I can remember always being punished in school in some subjects because I wasn't copying from the board right, but I couldn't open my mouth to tell my teachers or even parents I couldn't see the board. Even my grades suffered in school due to this.

Then I got admission to do diploma in law and then my father took me to this optician I would say was not really a professional and he tested me and prescribed some glasses but it didn't help matters. I think it was fake. I later on got admission again to study my course in school which was for four years and that's when I made it clear to my parents for the first time how serious the issue was and I was taken to a general hospital where I was given lenses and I have worn lenses since then for years now.

I change my lense from time to time but it's unfortunate I wear it almost all the time. I would have loved to have a time when I don't wear it. Since lense is my signature or means of identification to some people, I use fanciful ones, ones I know fit my face. It's quite unfortunate that some people do not recognize me without my lenses.

I use different glasses on different days, so I choosed to use this today.

I now envy those without glasses cos I believe they are free. I still believe one day, I will do without glasses. Thank you for reading my story.

Congratulations, your post was upvoted by @supportive.

I can recognise you even without your glasses, I thought your glasses were for fancy I never knew you had an eye issue, I wished you could get a better specialist that will give you the right glasses for you eye, meet a good optical scientist.

@nsijoro, thanks. I'm told that I started wearing it too late.

That could be the reason, but there may be a correction somehow

Greetings friend @destinedhanik

Glasses can become part of our identity, as is your case, from time to time you can let yourself be seen without glasses so that others get used to seeing you that way too, however, that is the least of it.

Thank you for joining the contest.
