Cost of living in Turkey compared to Ukraine 🇹🇷🇺🇦

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

Hi Steemians, my dear friend @dwarrilow2002 asked me and @ozenozge some questions about the cost of living in Turkey. He said that his friends are thinking of coming to Turkey from Ukraine for a while. As you know, the situation in Ukraine is a bit complicated.

So, I wanted to prepare explanatory content. I hope this will be helpful 😊

According to my research: the right of visa-free travel to Turkey for Ukrainian citizens is a total of 90 days within 180 days. They can stay for a maximum of 60 days without interruption. I recommend checking with embassies. Because there may be changes in both covid-19 and political situations.

I think if you are going to a country, the best way to evaluate the cost is to compare it with the country you live in.

There are many "costs of living in different countires" sites. One of them is expatistan.com. It has a very detailed and comprehensive database. At the same time, countries can be compared. That's why I chose this site. You can access more detailed data by entering the site from the link.

I made markups on the basic data.

They say that the rent of an 85m2 furnished house in a normal neighborhood in Turkey is approximately 203 USD but actually, it's hard to find a furnished home at this price recently. House rents may vary according to cities and neighborhoods. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of increase in house rents in Turkey lately. Therefore, an increase of up to 350 USD can be observed. Of course, I'm not talking about luxury places. There are also differences according to the provinces.

For example, house rents in Istanbul are higher than in Antalya. I am adding the popular advertisement site in Turkey, from sahibinden.com it can be controlled by selecting the province and limit. Also, it can also be checked by airbnb from the most popular sites globally.

Food prices are also shown with a comparison as you can see in the table. Big Mac menu is shown as 2.53 USD, now it is 2.82 USD. So the prices are approximately correct. Food prices also vary according to the markets. Affordable grocery stores are not hard to find. The price of half a kilo of chicken breast ranges from 1.45 USD to 2 USD. A bread is 0.22 USD in Turkey.

I don't know the prices in Ukraine so I can't check so I'm assuming they are approximately correct. According to this site, the cost of living in Turkey is 35% more affordable than in Ukraine. But I could not check all the data in detail. Prices in Turkey can also be considered as minimum limits. It starts at these prices and goes up. Therefore, this percentage may change. Therefore, we cannot say that these data are completely correct. However, what is clear is that someone who comes to Turkey from Ukraine will not have gone to a more economically expensive country.

According to another site livingcost.org, the cost of living by country is shown as you can see below. On this site, the approximate monthly cost of living in both countries is calculated as in the table. This cost is calculated as 447 USD for Turkey and 541 USD for Ukraine.

You can reach more detailed data from the sites I have added. You can also look at the rent prices of the region from the real estate sites. I tried to explain my research and comments in detail. I hope these data at least gave an idea 🇹🇷🇺🇦

I hope the tensions in the countries will come to an end 🌸

Thanks a lot for reading it 🌿

I can confirm that food prices in Ukraine are correct. As for real estate prices, it all depends on which city we are talking about. But the prices for the Internet and utilities are quite correct.

I am very glad to receive a reply from Ukraine. In terms of real estate, it varies according to the city and neighborhood in Turkey. Then we can say that it is close to the truth for both countries. Thanks a lot for your answer 🤗

Hi @enveng and thanks for sharing this cost of living comparison.

Hi, thank you for reading it 😊

You have done very nice and detailed work. There's nothing left to say to me.
You mentioned it in your article, but it is worth mentioning again. Rental prices are increasing alarmingly and it is very difficult to give a number right now.
