A New Beginning

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 months ago (edited)

Coming back from school and finding out a room entirely transformed, used to uplift my mood like nothing else.

My mom was big on home decor, and she still is. I loved it when she used to play around with different elements in a room, be it rearranging furniture, getting a new plant, or installing a new lamp. I used to love "the change". It excited me.

Little did I know, years later, I would hate doing this for my own home...

In my defense, I also didn't know I had to do it more frequently, and that too not because of out of passion but out of necessity/obligation.

As some of you know, due to my husband's job nature, we move quite often. Hence, my frequent rambling about packing and moving in the past.

We moved to another small town a couple of months ago (which reunited me with dear @soulfuldreamer after 5 years). We have been living in a very small accommodation since then. It's been only a few days since we moved to a slightly bigger place because we are expecting my parents-in-law to come live with us. The new place still doesn't meet our needs but that's all we got for now.

The last few days went like a whirlwind. I have been setting up the place half-heartedly. But I'm tired of living like a nomad (feels so) for more than half a year. Even if it's temporary(hopefully), I have been trying to make it comfortable, functional, and practical. I want it to look feel like a home.

We didn't unpack most of our belongings when we moved to this city. Now that we have a slightly bigger place, we unpacked some stuff. My heart broke seeing corners of my brand new sofa set worn out in the big move, a dozen scratches on my favourite chester, paint smudging on an expensive oil painting that I bought from an artist right before "the move" and thought to frame it after settling down.

Every piece of furniture I own is chipped but a coat of wood polish and varnish brought out some fresh look.

Coming to better things now...

I was badly missing my books so it was a delight opening book boxes. Arranging my prized collection on the bookshelf was extremely therapeutic. I have already picked out a book for this week. 😊

My good old friend - the bookshelf

I got this bookshelf custom-made at home by a carpenter 7 years ago. But now half my books are stuffed in my closet because there's no more space. I'm looking for another shelf that would also look good next to it. Any design suggestions?

I am extremely motivated and unpacked my painting supplies too. During my time away from Steem, I got crazy and started painting almost every other day for a few months. But then I discontinued. Although very amateur me and kids loved looking at the masterpieces I created. 🤣

Let's just hope I make time for it again.

I have set up most of the space, only one room is left. Hopefully, it will be ready soon.

I just wish to have a nice and memorable stay while it lasts. With a whole bed of garlic (my favourite) crop in our backyard, we are off to a good start. 😁

🥂 "Morning-tea toast" to the new beginning...

Finally got time to read some posts on steemit and I headed here.

My brother recently got married and my bhabhi comes from an Army family. Only yesterday she told me about her childhood and how she had to move from places to places due to her dad's job nature. While I laid down on my bed yesterday night, I gave this a long profound thought and realized the grass is always greener on the other side. We usually think of people who are in armed forces as someone who have a lot of perks and other stuff but we (me) don't know the sacrifices the family has to make for that. I mean, 2 years ago when i was leaving my family house ( I posted about it on steemit) I got depression. Leaving a place where you lived your entire life isn't easy and then there are people who have to leave every 6 months.

You tell me, doesn't this lifestyle make ut easy for you guys? I mean y'all don't get attached to a place for a long time. But then there's the issue of children's schooling, their friends, they're always moving, doesn't it affect their mental health?

Many Congratulations to your brother. Best wishes to him. (My brother got married too recently.)

I'm happy that your bhabhi softened your heart for forces. 😀

Only yesterday, my son had tears in his eyes saying goodbye to his friend who was moving to another place. I counsel him in times like these. Good thing is, kids forget and move on quicker than us adults.

As for me, it has gotten easier with time. But I still get emotional leaving everything behind and starting over, specially when leaving family-like friends behind.

Education, domestics... everything gets disturbed. When things finally start to settle down, it's time to move again.

Oh i so like your bookshelf and amateur paintings (as you say). I just pray that God make every art lover an amateur as the author of this post🙌

I used to fancy people moving every now and then and make new friends, now i see the struggle behind it:)

Stop... I'm blushing.

You should see my worst work too. (Which I won't show 😅)

I used to fancy people moving

Trust me sister, it ain't fun when the responsibility is on you. Things are different as kids when you don't have to do anything except tagging along with parents.

You should see my worst work too. (Which I won't show 😅)

I'll manifest to see it in my dream(as gurus sell it):p

it ain't fun when the responsibility is on you.

Oh yes, fun vanishes in thin air then (fancy how some people are so responsible, just kidding:).

We have a saying: "Moving three times is like burning down once!" ;-)) Old things look old at some point - but sometimes that's what makes them cosy and homely. Other things are replaced. It's like everything in life: for a limited time...

I'm burning.....🫠

I've been busy for some days now not for bad things but for good😊...and maybe that is why I miss some interesting reads like this.

I am back now!

I can only imagine the stress of changing locations like this...., the stress of arranging and rearranging. But at the end of the day, you are a good decorator, your new home looks great and the sofa is just so amazing.

The book shelves and the painting are just awesome.

Interestingly, you have a great neighbor @soulfuldreamer

Busy finding the bride? 😆

It is stressful. Thankfully, it's done for now.

I don't have any active real life friends on Steem. It's good to have one now.

Busy finding the bride?

😅.., Oh No. I am actually on a special program training.

Great you could achieve that. And it is also interesting that you have a friend on Steem that you can also see in real life..., enjoy the company.

I am actually on a special program training.

Good for you. (:

I'm coming for this green garlic shoots...

Your new abode is looking lovely 😍🌹

Yes, do find time for arts... And the walks in the course which is just near your new home. And push me to join you also

Take as much shoots as you want.

I will find time for arts and walks once things are settled down. Will push you to join me in the course too.

Why didn't you come to check the progress on home again?

Why didn't you come to check the progress on home again?

Three duties to follow:
Wife
Mother
Daughter in law

Plus ( ladies mess sometimes)

But, I will come for sure :)

I understand. ❣️
