Preserving Kashmir’s Beauty: A Call to Action for a Cleaner Tomorrow
Kashmir is famous worldwide for its beauty. This entire valley is a scenic paradise, and people from distant places come here to witness its breathtaking views. We are fortunate to live here and experience these sights so easily. Every place in Kashmir is beautiful and soothing to the eyes. Many scenic spots here include Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Verinag, Doodhpathri, Nilnag, and many more beautiful places worth visiting.
Kashmir is often called the “Switzerland of Asia” because of its unparalleled beauty. Srinagar, located right at the center, holds many stunning places, including world famous Dal lake and if I speak about my home district Budgam’s it also stands out with its charm. Our district is home to several breathtaking locations like Yousmarg, Nilnag, Doodhpathri, and others.
Today, I’d like to talk about Nilnag.
Nilnag is a lake situated in the village Buzgoo which is located at a distance of about 40 kms from srinagar. The lake is known for its striking blue waters. Nestled amidst lush, dense forests, this lake offers a stunning view surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. On one side lies the village of Gogji-Pathri and on the other side, Ladden. The lake is encircled by untouched wilderness, and the reflection of the tall trees in its waters creates an extraordinary and serene scene.
After day’s work, the villagers of the sorrounding areas come in the evening to sit by the lake for a relaxing break, enjoying cups of tea and local snacks. The cool breeze from the lake, carrying the subtle scent of its fresh waters, creates a captivating atmosphere that touches the heart. It’s a view that leaves a lasting impression, one that stays with a person no matter where they go.
Till a few years ago, this lake remained pristine, free from outside interference. However, with the rise in tourism, people have started littering around the lake, often without considering its preservation. While the lake remains beautiful, it’s slowly losing its charm due to careless visitors who come to enjoy the place yet fail to protect what attracts them.
As a local, I feel a strong responsibility to emphasize the need to value and protect such places. This area has been preserved by nature itself, and instead of contributing to its decline, we should make efforts to protect it. Once lost, these natural treasures cannot be restored, nor can the memories and experiences they offer. Future generations deserve a clean, untouched environment, and we must understand the importance of keeping these places pristine.
This land will only remain beautiful if each of us commits to preserving it. It’s time for us to take significant steps to ensure that everyone understands the need to respect and maintain these sites.
We need to come together to take essential steps to protect these places. We should ensure that the dustbins already installed at scenic spots are properly maintained and functional, making it mandatory for everyone to use them. Clear guidelines should be provided on the correct use of these dustbins, especially for non-biodegradable waste that harms our environment.
Raising awareness about the impact of waste on our beautiful landscapes is crucial. By working collectively, we can make a significant difference in preserving these precious natural spots for ourselves and future generations.
I’ve noticed that when the top layer of the lake freezes, all the polythene bags and bottles sink to the bottom, making it nearly impossible to remove them later. Over time, this pollution will lead to the lake slowly losing its natural beauty and becoming a wasteland. While we may still see it as a lake during our lifetimes, future generations will only find a pile of waste instead of the pristine lake we once cherished. This gradual degradation will rob the lake of its identity, and it’s our responsibility to ensure it remains a lake, not a dumping ground, for generations to come.
I’m writing this today because I want to start a campaign to raise awareness about keeping our surroundings clean. I aim to encourage everyone to join hands in protecting these places, and I’m seeking support from my community and my steemit team. I’m hopeful that this support will help make a lasting impact in preserving nature, and I pledge to contribute to this cause wholeheartedly.
I don’t just need your votes, I need your active support, which you can show through your comments and by sharing ideas on the best ways to keep these areas clean. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you

Dear friend, @jahangeerkhanday,
Your kind and generous words truly resonate with me. It’s heartwarming to reflect on the times we shared, not just because we come from the same country, but because I remember a time when our interactions were filled with joy and connection. Back then, we would engage in light-hearted chats with our Steemian friends through comments, and those exchanges turned into cherished habits of learning from one another; at that time, there was no discord maniac like nowadays!
I often find myself reminiscing about those days and missing my old friends dearly. I sincerely wish they would return to this platform and reignite those meaningful conversations. If you happen to have any way to reach them, I would greatly appreciate it if you could convey my sentiments.
On a different note, although I’ve never visited Kashmir myself, the stories I’ve heard from my landlord, who has explored the region countless times, have painted such a beautiful picture of its charm. He brought back walnut crafts and a shikara model, which serve as precious reminders of this paradise on earth.
Lastly, I want to express how much I admire your content. The quoted lines you share hold a special significance for me and truly mean a lot. Be blessed!
Warm regards,
Your old pal on Steemit!
Your comment filled me with so much joy! You commenting on my post as an old friend who has been a big motivation since my early days on Steemit, means a lot to me. You truly hold a special place in my heart. I understand how challenging it is to stay connected in a busy life, managing both office responsibilities and family duties, yet I always wish to reconnect with you and all the friends who left such a positive impression on my journey.
I’m inviting you to come and experience the beauty of Kashmir for yourself. This place truly is a paradise that everyone should see at least once in their life. If you visit, I would be honored to be your host and guide, taking you wherever you’d like to go. You’ll never regret coming here,it’s a stunning place that I’m sure you’ll fall in love with.
