I have been over the mountain back to Cape town so few times over the last few years, and now twice in less than a month! We re taking my little man @judethedude to the Comic Con today, which he will no doubt share in a post of his own in the next few days... as will I. He also did a really cool post yesterday about his Pokemon collection, so go check that out!

So yes, it should prove a fun day ahead. A long one, with a lot of traveling - but fun nonetheless, and also great because he is going to be reconnecting with one of his oldest friends who he has not seen in about three years, so he is super excited!

But, moving back to our trip over the mountain last week Thursday... my dad and his girlfriend were on holiday out in Cape Town as she is visiting from the UK and they normally do a bit of local traveling when she is down. They invited us to join them at a place called The Barnyard Theatre which is like a really casual type eatery and bar which host live performances. It is actually located at one of the shopping malls which seems to be serving it well in terms of foot traffic and bookings.

They have a show currently playing called The Hollywood Walk of Fame which in essence, is a theatrical production of the greatest songs from the greatest movies ever made.

As we were invited to join my dad for this, we had not really done any research into "what it was" and just said yes because... well, live music, lol. So I guess we, or I at least was actually just expecting a band doing covers of some classic, well known songs - which is not at ALL what it was, which was a really pleasant surprise!

Not that there would have been anything wrong enjoying a band style evening... it is not every day you get to enjoy something a little more theatrical!

On top of that... they really did cover ALL the real greats in terms of timeless movies and definitely MANY of my favourites... from Dirty Dancing, to Pretty Women, Top Gun, Grease, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and so, so many more!!! It really was an amazing production and what made it even more enjoyable was the relaxed vibe there.

It is all very casual, though your seats are pre-booked, so you don't need to fight your way to find somewhere to sit which is great and I was pretty impressed with the amount of people such a small space could hold.

We actually went elsewhere for dinner first and then headed to the show, but from what I could tell... they have a pretty decent pub style menu there too and it looked like most people came earlier and had dinner which seemed to consist mostly of pizza, judging by all the pizza boxes we saw around lol.

It was a pretty small cast of performers which actually made it all the more impressive. Their versatility alone, not to mention the ability to change outfits so fast, haha! The woman pictured above was probably the one who impressed me the most though! She had the most incredible voice!!! So powerful and absolutely pitch perfect... which is also impressive for a live show. She really was just magical!!!

The show was about two hours or just over, so not a long event - but a thoroughly enjoyable one and absolutely worth traveling over the mountain for! I think next time we go, we will eat there and enjoy the full experience. They seem to have all sorts of really cool shows on the go, so there will definitely be a next time!
