Celtic Knotwork - basic principles II

Hi friends!

As done in the previous post, we start again by making a grid of 4 boxes by 4 boxes and with the help of diagonal lines we find the centre of each box, marked here with red dots.

This time we will do a variant before drawing the knot.
Below the third row of boxes, we will draw a segment to mark a break in the sequence of the pattern we will draw.
Drawn here bellow, in ocher colour.

A second variant in our drawing of a Celtic knot is the smooth curves that we now use to draw, instead of the right angles used in the previous knot.
As you can see, the path of the lines is the same but gently rounded.
Please pay attention, because it isn't possible to end the third pattern (on the right, below) in the same way as the others, due to the breakout line drawn earlier.

The third pattern was joined to the fourth to finish like the others, drawing a diagonal inward.
We see that now we must extend the upper right pattern, its lower extension, drawing a curve to join it with the first, thus closing the knot.
4.jpg

Finally, the helplines to draw the Celtic knot are already done.
5.jpg

Taking the helplines as a reference, we continue drawing the knot with the width appropriate to our interest.

The second version of a Celtic knot is almost done.
7.jpg

We're just going to fill it with black to finish it.

Done!

This knot has a particular property, an essential property that reflects the philosophy of the Celtic people..., infinity, eternity, the love between two people, an endless journey.
We can endlessly follow the path of the unbroken knot. Unlike the one drawn in the previous post, composed of two intertwined rings, this intertwining has no starting or ending point.
