Pronounced foreshortening of the face
Hi friends!
Drawing the human head or face inserted inside a cube makes it easier to locate its features if we already know where they must be positioned. By drawing a cube in perspective as a base we can give it the inclination we want. Thus we will easily obtain complicated foreshortenings, which are difficult to achieve when drawing without a model.
Drawing based on a correct perspective projection will also allow us to study different ways to finalize the appearance of the character we want to create, we can also deform it or add strange elements coherently.
Watch a practical demonstration in this short video.
I wish you a very nice day!

Wow, Jorge, that is very interesting how you made it, seems to be very difficult , but when I look at this drawing I have a feeling looking from height, like shading on sides of nose and under the cheekbones. You are a master of perspective.
By the way, how is your preparation for Christmas, are you going to come together with your children or maybe travelling somewhere?
Hi dear Stef! Perspective is more than a drawing tool, it is a helpful element that allows us to understand how we see the world around us. I know that it is not easy to understand some aspects of this matter, but once you understand the essence and usefulness of this science, a world of possibilities opens up and everything becomes easier.
Our youngest son is on a vacation trip in Vietnam. My wife and I will be going to the coast to rest the week between Christmas and New Year's. Our oldest son is very busy right now, so they don't have plans with his partner yet.
I guess your son will stay Christmas with you two. Is he happy at the University, far from his family?
Regards!
Hi Jorge, it is really nice to hear form you, I can imagine that once we understand how it works it is like a "click" moment when everything becomes clear.
At least you and your wife will have time together, knowing that your children are well, in such young age, they want to have some adventure and experience, we all were the same when we were young.
My and my hubby travelling back to Germany on Christmas eve, but our son will stay in Edinburgh, he has his friends and this time did not want to join us, I am of course, very sad, but I did not show him. But we definitely enjoy our travel. Slowly we get to use to idea that he is grown up, at least he is enjoying the Informatics and has some projects, one is due to be presented next week, so we pleased with that.
So will keep in touch and catch up before the Christmas :)
