I think I crashed a secret cat gathering

Today I walked past a regular parking lot near some apartment buildings and stumbled upon a weird scene. A group of neighborhood cats was sitting on the asphalt,not just in a random bunch, but almost arranged in some kind of order. Each one onn their own spot, at their own distance. Just sitting there like they were “discussing” something.

I walked closer, and they didn’t react to me at all. Like I was part of the background and whatever meeting they were having was more important. Then I called them “kitty-kitty-kitty”, and at that moment the whole group stood up in sync and started walking toward me. Not for long, though. They walked a bit, stopped, and sat down again, but now in a new formation. And again, just sitting there like they were continuing their little meeting.

I’m standing there watching them, realizing I’ve accidentally walked in on some kind of “closed session” of the local cat council. They definitely noticed me, but decided I wasn’t interesting enough , and just went on with their business. They kept glancing at each other like “Yeah, this guy won’t understandf anyway”. And kept sitting there just as coordinated as before, like their little secret gathering had to happen exactly this way.

I walked away, but the feeling stayed, like I saw something a person probably isn’t supposed to see. A secret meeting with... something I’m not even meant to perceive.
