Volleyball Clubs Champs Women 2022 🏆🏐
Hello all,
Last week the best women's volleyball team in the world was revealed. In other words, the Volleyball Clubs Champs Women of 2022 was played. The tournament was played in Antalya, the city where I live. As a volleyball lover, I couldn't miss the opportunity to watch the world's best volleyball players live I bought my tickets the day the tickets went on sale and I couldn't wait for the tournament to start. Let me share with you my experience of this five-day tournament.
The tournament would feature the three best teams from Europe, two teams from South America and the Asian champion. Last year's Champions League champion Vakıfbank🇹🇷, Champions League finalist Imoco Conegliano🇮🇹 and Eczacıbaşı 🇹🇷represented Europe. South American Champion Gerdau Minas🇧🇷 and the other Brazilian representative Dentil Praia Clube 🇧🇷and the last Asian Champion Kuanysh Club🇰🇿 participated. In fact, as everyone predicted before the tournament, it was obvious that the champion would come from the European continent. The fierce rivalry between Vakıfbank, Eczacıbaşı and Imoco Conegliano was reflected in this tournament. These three teams had the highest budgets in the world and naturally the best volleyball players in the world were among them.
Some of the world stars we had the opportunity to watch in the tournament were Isabel Haak, Paola Egonu and Tijana Boskovic as opposite hitters, Gabi, Kelsey Robinson-Cook, Irına Voronkova as outside hitters, Zehra Güneş, Thaisa Menezes, Robin De Kruijf, Sinead Jack as middle blockers, Joanna Wołosz, Maja Ognjenovic, Cansu Özbay as setters and Monica De Gennaro as libero. If you are a volleyball spectator, there is no chance that you don't recognize these players, certainly most of the most important players in the world were at this tournament.
In the first three days of the tournament, teams played group matches in groups of two. Afterwards, the group winners and runners-up met in the semifinals. We would have loved to see a Turkish final in the tournament, but unfortunately this did not happen. For this, Eczacıbaşı had to beat Imocco in the group matches, but Eczacıbaşı lost 3-1 to the Italian representative after a bad game. Therefore, Eczacıbaşı finished second in the group and faced another Turkish team Vakifbank in the semifinals. Vakıfbank won 3-0 in this Turkish derby and faced Imocco in the final.
On the final day, the third place match was played first. Eczacıbaşı defeated the last Brazilian champion Minas 3-1 and finished the tournament in third place. But since Eczacıbaşı had come to this tournament with the goal of winning the championship, third place didn't seem to please them.
The final match was between Italian giants Imocco and last year's 5-cup European and World champions Vakıfbank. The rivalry between these two teams was quite big. Two world stars Egonu and Haak swapped clubs in a trade this year. The rivalry between these two players made it a delightful match to watch. Imocco won the match 3-1. Vakifbank lost the championship with a very bad game in front of the Turkish audience and made us very sad. But still, Imocco's great game was fun to watch. They deserved to win this match with the great play of De Gennaro and Wolosz.
As a volleyball spectator, my heart was in favor of one of the Turkish teams getting the trophy, but I have to say that Imocco deserved this trophy without a doubt.
In conclusion, during these five days I watched great volleyball players live for the first time and I had my fill of volleyball. Even though it was a bad tournament for the Turkish teams, it was great to experience this atmosphere. I will end this article by congratulating Imocco.
