Malkia park

Hi.

In addition to traditional zoos, there are other places where animals are kept and we can go and see them. Malkia Park is one such place. It is the first private ZOO in Slovakia, located in western Slovakia near Orechova potôn.

Malkia Park was originally created to provide shelter for large animals. However, we also find other animals that have found their home here. These curious birds greeted us almost immediately at the entrance.

We go further and stop at the leopard enclosure. He walks up and down the glass and my son loves it. He stands by the glass and waits for the leopard to reappear in front of him. When the leopard approaches, my son screams and then starts laughing.

Every day at certain hours there is animal feeding accompanied by an interpretation. And that's exactly what we wanted to see. Here, a black spotted leopard is enjoying its meat. I have to admit that I have never seen such a leopard before.

In Malkia Park, you will learn a little more about the life and fate of individual animals than in other Zoos. This beautiful leopard is called Benji. Both him and his sister Baghira were rejected by their mother. The private owner did not take good care of the two cubs. Benji had leg problems and was malnourished when he got to Malkia Park. Here he was cared for and grew into a strong leopard.

Feeding also takes place in the enclosures of smaller animals. Sociable meerkats look for a good treat in the ground and in the grass. Along with that, they dig a hole here or there. It feeds mainly on insects, but it does not disdain small mammals, eggs and even plasmas. Would you say that they also eat plants or mushrooms? Yes, they will eat. We can find meerkats in the wild in southern Africa.

In addition to live animals, we also admire metal animals in Malkia Park. And not only do we admire them, but my son also tries to feed them. I still have a lot to explain to him in life...

The artistic blacksmith Vladimír Eperješi, who created the exhibition called Mechanical ZOO, is responsible for this interesting exhibition. Its main goal is the promotion of recycling. All the animals are made from scrap metal and old car wrecks for this very reason.

The animal that most interested me in Malkia Park is this White Bengal jungle tiger. Like a king, he rests undaunted on the highest point of his paddock and watches the wide surroundings.

This tiger is called Carmen. As a cub, Carmen was torn from her mother and exploited for commercial purposes in a circus. They sharpened her nails and she took pictures with visitors. Instead of a mother who would take care of her, or at least a nurse, one person after another served her. She was lucky in her misfortune because when she was three months old, she got here to Malkia Park, where the local nurses provided her with love and everything she needed for healthy development.

An adult tiger is a solitary animal. Its camouflage makes it virtually invisible in its natural jungle habitat. He can move extremely quietly and this predestines him to be an infallible hunter. Lives mainly on axis deer, wild boars, buffaloes and monkeys. It hunts its prey mainly at night. He buries her remains with leaves so that he can return to her later.

During the mating period, the males stay with the females for about 70 days and then return to their territory. A baby tiger cub is blind for 10 days and lives on its mother's milk until eight weeks old. He is gradually transitioning to solid food. Mother and mother teach him to hunt.

I was also quite pleased to see a capybara here. It is the largest rodent in the world that lives near water areas. He is an excellent swimmer and can dive very well. Lives on grass and various aquatic plants. Capybaras can be found in the wild in South America. They are calm and peaceful animals, although I have to say that I probably wouldn't care if I met them in the wild.

Lemurs kata are an integral part of several zoos. They also have a family of lemurs here. Lemurs can be found in the wild on the island of Madagascar. It has a prominent tail, thanks to which we can recognize it from afar.

My family and I spent a few nice hours in Malkia Park. We saw several interesting animals and got to know the fates of some of them. Malkia part is definitely a suitable place for relaxation and getting to know nature lovers or families with children.

Thank you

Looks like extremely pleasurable place for walks with kids!
ps. a bit sad you never walk with me. :P

Maybe we were walking and didn't even know it :)

I haven't been to the zoo in years...looking at these photos reminds me that I probably need to go sometime :)

Now, thanks to my children, I mainly visit such places :)
