As mentioned in a previous post of mine I spoke about a wonderful place that myself and my partner visited called Kagga Kamma in South Africa. It is spectacular, from the scenery, the accommodation, the history, the activities that are available and so much more. The photo above shows caves that you can stay in, caves!! This photo was taken during a walk around the resort, we decided to explore and was keen to see the caves. I didn't actually realise the caves were available to stay in so that was just another added layer of excitement!

We stayed in a chalet which was beautiful. There were huge rock formations right outside the door where we would go and sit with our cups of tea and look out over the bush listening to the birds. Oh how that would be heaven right about now. There were also huge rock formations to the right of our chalet too which of course, I had to explore! There were also huts that you can stay in too which were absolutely beautiful to look at, I'm sure they were just as lovely on the inside!

We had been unlucky with the weather for the first couple of days, due to us being so high up, it felt like we were within arm's reach of the top of the mountains (which were covered in snow!). The staff told us that usually at that time of year they get snowed in and no one can leave or enter, so I guess we were lucky, even if we didn't really acknowledge that at the time haha! Fortunately the weather did improve and we were able to go exploring and managed a couple of hikes which was amazing (and very scary at one point!).

IMG_20231012_172911.jpg

It was during the end of this hike that I began to panic a little bit, realising how vulnerable we were out in the open like that, knowing there's baboons, leopards, all kinds of buck and who knows how many snakes. I was ok until we saw lots of animal prints in the sand, some were quite big and another like a dogs paw print which to my knowledge is not unlike the baboons print, and then panic set in. I wanted the hike to be over, following the arrows that lead us back, I was regretting that I had convinced my partner to go for a hike that morning, normally it's the other way around haha! (He was very cold, it was VERY cold lol). But me in my "wisdom" thought it would get our blood pumping... It certainly did mine! It turned out to be a beautiful day, and the further we hiked, the sun came out in all its glory. Told you so! ;)

The terrain wasn't too difficult, nothing compared to Table Mountain or Lions Head Mountain in Cape Town! Though because we were high above sea level, we found we were becoming slightly short of breath sooner than normal, nothing drastic, just an observation. It felt like we were hiking forever and it definitely seemed longer than what the map said! Lol. I was glad to see the sight of camp, bobbing along in time with my step haha!

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

Within the resort they have many amazing, natural features that they have built around and it's just beautiful. Outside of the restaurant there's steps that lead up to a viewing deck that is surrounded by glorious rock formations. One day we decided to go exploring (again!), only this time we very quickly realised that they were setting up for a wedding, so it was a very quick walk around once we got to the top because we were actually brushing shoulders with the wedding guests on our way back down! Awkwaaaaaaaard! The last time we went away we accidentally "gatecrashed" a film set on a beach where they were filming a South African soap! I think it's called "7 De Laan" (in Afrikaans). We have a wonderful time together haha!! We went back a day or two later instead to have a good look around and took some photos of what was left of the wedding celebrations, the flowers were beautiful (made up of the Protea flower) and WOW, what a beautiful spot to get married!

Kagga Kamma is definitely one of the most amazing places I've ever been to, and how they have organised/built the resort without disturbing the wonder of Mother Nature is a real treat for the eyes and the soul.

IMG_20231012_205350.jpg Communal "braai" (South African term for a BBQ) ;) Or as they called it a "Boma area".

IMG_20231012_205322.jpgI LOVE spaces like this!

IMG_20231012_205442.jpgThe restaurant, where the Wi-fi is ;)

IMG_20231012_205251.jpgIt was not the right weather to jump in but I'm sure it's the only form of survival when visiting in the summer months!

IMG_20231012_205414.jpgAnother beautiful pool.

The photos (as always) doesn't do Kagga Kamma the justice it deserves! It really is a slice of heaven and I'd absolutely recommend going, South Africa truly has my heart!

Hi! Nice to see a post from South Africa.
South Africa is my home!

Hello! Oh wow, that's amazing! Where abouts are you from? I spend half my time in England and South Africa so it does feel like home to me :) Great to "meet you"!

That was quick! (•ิ‿•ิ)
I'm from Ballito.
It is wonderful that you are calling South Africa home. What is even better is that you are posting under #southafrica.
When next are you coming to SA?

Apologies for my very late reply!
Ballito, that's amazing! I've never been but will absolutely look it up :)
Yes it does feel that way, and when I'm not in South Africa I feel a bit of homesick feeling which I've never felt before. I'm hoping to come back in March, sad I'd of missed the summer but I'm sure it'll still be pleasant weather.
Happy New Year to you!

Hi there!
The east coast of South Africa has its own beauty. It is completely different from the Western Cape, but it is also very beautiful.
March is, for me, a great month. It holds the perfect autumn weather, not too hot or too cold.

Thank you! A wonderful year to you, too.

I had a look at your account. If you want to grow it you have to consider 3 things.

  1. Post more regularly
  2. Vote on the posts of your fellow Steemians. You just need to vote 10 posts every day at 100% and it will lift your Voting CSI which is required by curators
  3. You have to power up Steem on a regular basis so that you can be in a club status. I'm giving you a link that will help explain this more.

You can do very well on Steemit as your posts are excellent.

Good luck!

Hello :)
I have been to the Eastern Cape twice, once was to stay by Jeffrey's Bay and the other time was to St Francis Bay (that was my favourite). I'd never stayed in a place with a thatched roof before so that was exciting! An idea for a future post perhaps. Yes that's the kind of weather I like too, "slops", dress and maybe a little something for my arms as the night approaches - perfect haha!

Thank you very much for the advice, I'll check out the link too and will absolutely be sure to take what you've said onboard going forward, and thank you for your kind words and time - I really appreciate it!

I hope you have a lovely day!

St Francis Bay is beautiful!
Well our holiday home is in Keurboomstrand, 10 km from Plettenberg Bay. I'm sure you've passed it with your drive to Jeffrey's. It is a log cabin that looks out over the wide ocean. We call it our little place in heaven.
South Africa is a beautiful country.

You will do good if you follow a club status. That I can promise you.

Curators are hungry for good posts! One of the criteria is club status. I gave you a vote yesterday to encourage to take Steemit further.

Good luck!

Yes we really enjoyed ourselves 😊
Oh wow, that's amazing! A log cabin, I can just imagine how beautiful it is, what a view! I wouldn't want to leave, you must love it 😍

We've been going to Plett every year since 2016 and absolutely love it, it's one of my most favourite places to visit. There's so much to see and do and the coast line is just stunning! Last year we went on a Keurbooms River Cruise which was lovely, we also bungy jumped off Bloukrans Bridge which was a hell of an experience (if you enjoy a thrill) haha!

Also, the Keurboomstrand beach is my absolute favourite! I'm getting S.A blues now haha! It sure is out of this world kind of beautiful 😍

Thank you so much again, I have read through the link you posted, I will have to take another look so I can really take it in and understand what I'm doing, I will get there I'm sure. Exciting!

Thank you so much and have a lekker evening 😁
