Torus-Shaped Objects - Ran Art Blog
Torus is a complex object.
This is based on my new guide for torus drawing.
Its basic shape is like a cylinder outside, and an eye inside.
The reason is overlapping.
Meaning, the front is hiding part of the back.
Because there are no lines in nature, to render it, use brightness value.
Torus-like objects
Some complex shapes share the characteristics of a torus.
Though it is a continuous shape, it curves.
The curving creates a front (red) part that overlaps the back (blue).
When rendering, sometimes the outlines of the shape are also the highlight or shadow.
Organic shapes
Like man-made objects, organic objects (which are more abstract) share the same characteristics.
Once you get used to the overlapping of the curve, you can draw from imagination.
Complex drawing
When drawing from imagination, a mastery in perspective drawing is needed.
That way, you can draw any object from any angle.
In the example below, I rendered the drawing using artist grade markers.
Here is the faucet again.
First the outlines.
And the graphite render.

That faucet that was drawn with a pencil, is probably the most impressive thing that I've ever seen someone draw with a pencil. Your work is amazing @ranartblog!
Thank you!
Not every project is successful, but when I get good feedback, it helps.
