Hello fellow friends of Steemit!
I really feel sorry to be so bad at posting again, I just seem to have no time to do elaborate posts any more. On other social media platforms I´m able to maintain a little flow of things because it just requires a photo or two,, but somehow, my compromise with Steem was alway different. I like to use this place to make a little documentary of things, either about my art (mainly) or sometimes other things I would like to keep a memory of, like one would do creating a phtoalbum scrapbook.
Anyway, even if I hadn´t found the time to post, this doesn´t mean to say that some lovely days have taken place over these past weeks.
I´ve been wanting to make a post ever since on the last day of May I had one of my best days at work, ever.

Thing is that this summer I´ve been covering for a companion at work who got time off work because his wife had a baby and he is looking after it. He got taken out of the Bush Fire Department just before he was off work and was introduced into a different sector of this same workforce, a less dangerous one, working for the National Natural Park system we have. It´s mainly composed by the salt sand production area and the little islands that surround ours where birds nest. This is a highly protected area known for the clear waters made by the sea grass Posidonia that is a World Herritage site.

https://ibiza.travel/en/experiencias/protect-the-posidonia-sea-grass-meadows-an-underwater-treasure-and-world-heritage-site/

So, as a resident on Ibiza I many times have sailed with friends to these protected islands and snorckled around them but was never allowed to set a foot on them because they are reserved for birds. Only the rangers and biologists who care for them can do this.
On one of the days I worked in May I was told I was needed to be part of the team to count the eggs and baby seagulls that had just hatched. There is a system to this so we take as less time as possible to cover an area and not disturb them. We were 6 people and as a team we counted the population for this year of the . The type is called Audouin seagull

Waiting for the boat to come and pick us up.

We set off from Ibiza on a speed boat at about 8:30am.

When we reached the island called Espardell we planned the work.

So, we start counting....

Some of the nests...

I got a baby normal seagull on film... he´s so funny.

Then we continued looking for nests of other more shy birds who nest in caves, Virots.

Then we took the boat to another port on the island and got to have another two hour along the Ibiza coastline.
As we went though Es Vedrá and Es Vedranell islands we crossed way with a Dolphin and her baby swimming side by side, my camera wasn´t quick enough to get them on film.

Oh how great! You're doing a great job trying to save nature and all that, I feel you'll be greatly rewarded.
The seagulls eggs do a lot more like quail eggs..
I do hope you enjoy the work you do. Thanks for the pictures too, may you live in good health always 🙏🏾.

Thank you so much for popping by and taking a look! Best Wishes @eosxiomara !

Anytime 😊

My account was hacked and spammed. I got my account back, it's safe now. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.😥😞

As I enjoyed your story I did not want to end, I saw it twice how wonderful to be able to explore and be part of this great team, I was amazed at where they had to go to explore, without a doubt it is something that should be taken care of to the extreme.

Enjoy each one of the photographs, it hurts about the dolphin, I hope you catch it soon for a new story.

Cheers!

Thank you and I´m so happy you were able to enjoy it though my post! Dolphins are hard to catch if one isn´t expecting them, specially if you are on a boat that is moving fast and need your hands to hold on,.. but here you can see some I was able to catch on another sailing trip to Cabrera a couple of years back.

I love everything related to nature, I loved that photograph, if very difficult when you are in a boat or a ship but if there is tide, hold on, the dolphins are so cute and intelligent!

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

so happy you enjoyed it! ;-)

😉👏

Dear Romanie,

Thank you for this beautiful post, it was like you read my mind I just asked my hubby yesterday that I wonder what are you doing now as we have not heard anything for a long time.

Recently we heard about very hot weather in Spain and South Europe that is why we thought that you are busy with saving the green vegetation on Ibiza. It must be very hot there too.

On other hand I remember that you were doing some renovation or even new construction which is also time consuming. Hope you and Jason are progressing with it too.

I love the photos and this job is combination of both being one with nature but also to protect the nature. The people who are able to combine that are very lucky :)

I think I felt the thoughts.... I felt I wasn´t going to Steem even to visit, just too busy bit I did keep thinking about you guys and wanted to share some of the things going on lately. In summer is when we have more work and this combined with building at home and caring for my mum just takes up most of the time. No time to even to art, just very small things. I saw you are travelling to Spain to see some friends. I hope Ryanair doesnt spoil it. Best Wishes!
