Our Special Day - Club100 :)

in WORLD OF XPILAR3 years ago

Hi Dear Friends, today I will share with you a very beautiful and special day for me. My son proposed to his girlfriend. In Turkish tradition, there is an asking for the girl's hand for the son. I will tell you about this tradition :)

In this ceremony, the prospective groom goes with her family to the house of the bride-to-be. Flowers and chocolate are taken for this ceremony. All kinds of flowers can be preferred, but generally, red roses are preferred.

The flowers can be in the form of a bouquet or in a pot, vase or box. Live or artificial flowers can be preferred. These flowers are adorned with tulle and various packaging. Thus, it acquires a magnificent appearance. As you can see in the photo, my son preferred the live red rose bouquet :)

Recently, the groom can give a rose to all the women in the bride's house. My son gave one rose to each of her mother, grandmother, cousin and friends of the bride-to-be. Such things create a very pleasant ambiance :)

Chocolate can be in a box, tray or gondola. The feature of these chocolates is their appearance as well as their taste. Chocolates can be personalized. The names of the bride and groom candidates and the date of that day can be written on the packaging of the chocolates. My son and his girlfriend had their names written on the chocolates :)

When our flowers and chocolates were ready, we went to the bride-to-be's house. This ceremony can usually be attended by a nuclear family or can be more crowded. We went as me, my husband, my daughter, my son, my mother and my husband's sister.

First, the two families started chatting. Meanwhile, the bride-to-be starts to cook Turkish coffee. Turkish coffee is one of the most important parts of this ceremony. After the coffees are cooked, the bride-to-be begins to offer the coffees.

She makes the presentation starting from the oldest person. He cooks a special coffee for the groom-to-be. Salt is often added to the groom's coffee instead of sugar. It has become traditional. Depending on the bride-to-be's preference, different things can be added to it. For example salt, honey etc.

After the coffees arrive, the groom's father begins his speech to explain the reason for the visit. My husband had prepared for the speech and gave a beautiful speech.

After the bride-to-be's family expresses their approval of this marriage, the bride and groom-to-be kiss the hands of their elders and then the ring is put on. My son put the ring he proposed to our bride-to-be. Our bride-to-be also gave my son a special handkerchief.

Special handkerchief are available this tradition in some regions in Turkey. This handkerchief is custom made and needle lace. Also, my son's girlfriend had a special stone key chain made for my son. She also put a cute teddy bear with "I love you" written on it :)

After the ceremony, the packages and chocolates that I have attached the photo above were distributed. Our bride-to-be prepared the packages, and they contained a package of Turkish coffee and chocolate.

She said that she would keep the rose by drying it :)

It was a very beautiful and special day and we were very happy :)

Dear @serap, I am very pleased to hear that your son is proposed and is on the way to get his own family. I can imagine how it feels, that is also my dream although my son is just 19, but I can imagine that it would be the best present that our children can make for their parent. Beautiful tradition and the photos :)

Saludos y Bendiciones.
