Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.27) Vergil; Son of Sparda
Greetings and Peace be upon you, This is my first post that to me is considered a step towards my steemit journey. Today, I have prepared a sketch of the fictional character Vergil from the well-known "Devil May Cry" or "DMC" game franchise. Making his first appearance as mysterious figure in the 3rd part of the game, Vergil is the character fans die to know more about, he dosen't return for yet another part until 30 minutes to 1 hour into DMC5.
DRAWING REFERENCE
Source
This Image is taken from a cutscene in the game where Vergil proceeds to unsheathe his weapon while questioning his younger brother; "how many times have we fought?"
Materials:
Mechanical/ Lead pencil.
Eraser.
Drawing
Step 1
I draw out the face and start to add guidelines (for the eyes, nose, mouth) gently and get straight into shading, but if it suits you, you can sketch out the face first before adding details.
Step 2
I use the eye-socket as a guide for where the nose should be, using the Lobule of the ear as a guide for the mouth and the Helix as a guide for the eyes
(This is a complex method of shading named "Cross-hatching" in which lines going in different angles are layered on top of each other to create a darker effect)
Step 3
I draw the lips and shade them, the opening of the lips should be darker, while the corners should blend into the skin.
Step 4
I shade the nose, chin, cheek bones, the jaw, and the forehead using the lightning from the inspiration as a reference.
TIP: always cover the whole face in light shading to use a eraser to add high lights afterwards.
Step 5
I start to draw the hair from individual strokes, creating the effect of realistic hair, but I used the rule of the top and bottom being darker than the middle, something that is used commonly in 2 dimensional art.
Step 6
I color the Cloak by layering different angled lines over eachother
#Step 7
I fill in the Vest, add some personal touchers (Hair string sticking out, darker neck, smaller chin)
And the finished Result is
All support is appreciated, God bless you, and have a nice day.

Congratulations for this great work, I love the way you place the shadows with the help of lines, something I still have a hard time with. Keep up the good work.
thanks, appreciate it.
