COLOUR OF THE WEEK CONTEST

in WORLD OF XPILARlast month (edited)

This contest COLOUR OF THE WEEK CONTEST | BLUE from @charter provided the impetus I needed to compile this post. While attending events planned by party planners and professionals have their own perks, there's a distinct joy in being part of a team that orchestrates a grand event - and that too from scratch!

I was part of a team of just four individuals, who painstakingly crafted every detail. Yes, it was accomplished by four ladies, occasionally supported by others for specific tasks. We had some additional manpower, but primarily it was our small team. From food to decor, every aspect was meticulously handmade. We even sketched out settings and arrangements plans a month in advance before bringing the blue-themed Milaad to life.

It was an experience so enriching and I learnt a great deal from this. Not only the arts of crafts but also the arts of working as a team and pulling off an event of grandeur. I learnt how to compliment and supplement my fellow ladies. I am so thankful for this opportunity!

Let me tell you a little about what this was all about:

"Milaad" refers to the celebration of the birth of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It is often marked with gatherings where poetry, songs, and prayers are recited to honor the Prophet's life and teachings. These events are common in Muslim communities worldwide and are seen as occasions of joy and reflection.

It was a mega event, and for convenience, I will split it into sections. There were four main areas of décor and settings:

  • Centre stage for the ladies who would recite naat.
  • Guest speaker table adjacent to the centre stage.
  • Head dining table.
  • Backdrop of the head dining table.

Other elements included:

  • Ladies' dining tables (I don't have pictures of those).
  • Giveaway baskets and books.
  • Tables for the displays.
  • Food preparation and presentation

So, are you ready? Whether or not, below is the virtual tour. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. Don't forget to watch the video upload at the end!

Centre Stage:

Can you appreciate the calligraphy in blue on white cross-stitches? I traced and made the cutouts. I think I have already reached the limit for the number of photos, otherwise, I could show you a close-up! I had to trace them as mirror images to ensure their true shape after cutting and pasting.

Mirrors on ribbons and flowers made from glitter sheets were hand-pasted for decoration.

Head Dining Table:

Backdrop for the head dining table is adorned with cross-stitches featuring flowers and with hanging aluminum balls, all handcrafted by none other than your @soulfuldreamer.

Give aways:

A little glimpse of what we did with food

The salad bar. The food presentation was a work of art itself. I have omitted some pictures of the food presentation, and also, the quality of this collage isn't doing it justice. For the full experience, please watch my YouTube upload video!

Last but not the least, my take on blue for dressing up for the event:

everyone was wearing blue, so I decided to mix and match a little ;)

I hope you enjoyed the compilation. Do tell me in comments. I will be waiting :)

I can only say one thing - it is extraordinary. The decorations are selected with taste, everything is successfully and harmoniously placed. You have talent🤩.

Extraordinary! Really? I'm so over the moon 🤩

Thank you for stopping by.

I think I am still a kid at heart. Whenever I made or cooked something for the first time, I always showed it to my family, eager to get their opinion (mostly positive 😉) from them.

Thanks a bunch. I will take this compliment to my heart!

That's what I say: blue always works. Stylish, understated, simple and yet enchanting!

Can't be more true!

We worked with so many shades of blue and I fell in love with each of them specifically icy blue 💙

Thank you millions for stopping by.

Are you sure I won't take the next flight to Pakistan to attain events like this?

Oh wait 🤔 are you sure you and your team won't arrange my wedding decoration?

Because this is absolutely excellent!

Indeed, blue has a lot of meaning.

And you will be so welcome here :)

This event is really close to my heart. I have been a part of others as well, but this one... It felt like an achievement. And, of course, it was a team effort, but it was so rewarding. I learned so many invaluable lessons during the course and fostered lifelong friendships. It may never be equivalent to some fancy party planner's event, but it was all done by hand and with heart.

I will be more than happy to arrange your wedding! Both of you will have to come to Pakistan. We are very hospitable people.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Means a lot
