Grape Leaf Wrap 👩‍🍳 Türkiye Style

Greetings to everyone from the second day of Ramadan Feast. We prepared treats for the guests who came during the holiday. One of them was the stuffed leaves. Last summer, we collected grape leaves and boiled them in boiling water and stored them in the freezer. As in the holiday, we take the leaves out of the cupboard and prepare them when guests come. It is our country's favorite recipe. It is served at every event. It's a little hard to make but 1 minute to eat 🥰

If you have grape leaves in your garden, you can try this recipe.

Materials Needed

  • Grape Leaves (500gr)
  • Rice - 1.5 Glasses (I used a 200ml glass.)
  • Dry Onions (two pieces)
  • Tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
  • Parsley (100-150gr)
  • Olive oil (6 tablespoons)
  • Red Chili Pepper (1 dessertspoon)
  • Mint (fresh or dried)
  • Black pepper (1 dessert spoon)

Mix all ingredients except Grape Leaves. Finally, salt is added according to your taste.

Ready for interior ingredients. Let's prepare the grape leaves for the outside. If you collect them fresh from your garden, wash the leaves and cook them in boiling water for 6-10 minutes. This process is for the leaves to become thinner and softer. When you get the color you see in the picture, take the leaves into the strainer.

All that's left is to wrap it up. That's the only tedious part. Yes, I accept it is very tasty, but this part is a little tedious. Cut off the stems of the strained grape leaves and lay them on the table. Meanwhile, the veined side of the leaf will remain on top.

We make a roll by adding some mortar to it. I showed you the roll with visuals above. I put the rolls we prepared in a deep pot. We have completed 5 floors in total.

Let's fill the pot with water with the pot we prepared mortar. The water should reach the level of the leaves. Finally, we added a spoonful of olive oil.

Cover the pot and let it cook on medium heat. Continue until the rice is cooked. Sometimes the water may run out before the rice is cooked. If there is no water left but the rice is hard, you can add a little more water.

I cut 1 lemon into slices and placed it on it when it was almost ready. Lemon looks best on grape leaves. The sour taste enhances the flavor.

You can enjoy it after cooking. Although it takes time while wrapping, you can finish it very quickly while eating 🥰
