A World Without Colour - BW

in WORLD OF XPILAR22 days ago (edited)

My first camera was... The Agfamatic 50.
Strange how I suddenly remember it. I was about 8-9 years old. I have no idea why I was gifted with it but from that moment on I took photos. Nearly all photos were taken in black and white just like everyone else did. Colour wasn't the norm yet, same for television and we all lived happily in the world of B&W. Did we feel more relaxed? Didn't we need all those shouting colours to see the beauty of life.

Samsung A10 - mobile phone - macro - taken in black and white

I took black and white photos for years.

I liked it better or maybe I was more familiar with it. The colour photos at that time (in the 70s-80s) were also different if it comes to colour than what you see today. In my experience printed photos rarely look good. Are the photos printed too dark?

For two weeks I have been wondering what the world looks like in black and white. Is this world more soothing than all those bright, attention-screaming colours, the neon advertising that hurts my head and makes me wear dark sunglasses for part of my life?

It feels strange to take photos in black and white after all these years again, more strange than in sepia.

Black and white photography was banned because such a roll of film became much more expensive than a colour roll.

On my poppy-picking tour through the garden, I noticed I am not the only lover of poppies. There are quite a few insects that are busy in the heart of the flowers. If the insects are big enough, I don't pick them.

What are you doing there?
His bright green stands out against the red of the poppy.
You're in my flower.

How can such a fragile flower bear the weight of a noisy jump-in-the-field?
I go inside to get my phone and once back it's still there. It poses obediently while the flower sways in the wind.
We look at each other. Me from behind and him in front of the camera. Good enough for an unedited photo, although I wonder if what I saw has lost its beauty now that the colour is filtered out.

It will take a while to get used to black and white again, but colour is in the memory just like the colours of everything around me. With that knowledge, I continue seeing colours even if I look at a black-and-white photo that is rarely just black and white.

He or see looks happy and at dinner? It's not easy to make a clear macro. It feels as if it's only possible if the phone is held in a certain angle and yes, it takes time. It's not just click and ready. Honestly? The longer I watch the more I like the black and white one.

I wonder when you had the colored camera for the first time Kitty, in my home town the first time I saw someone with a camera was in the 1990s or something.

When at that time we only had one BW TV in the village public building, and everyone gathered there to watch it and the power supply was 12 Volt Battery. Electricity came to my village in 1997, before that year we used to have kerosene lamps, but fire accidents were really rare, but now electricity is everywhere and most of the fire accidents are caused by short circuit burns of the electricity. actually, it makes me confused

Have a good day and my X send you special greeting, she is with me now

I can remember the colour tv being delivered. It was during dinnertime. My father said it were studybooks so I sat down on the box. Of course he told me not to and I answered: Why? If these are books...
It was at the end of the 80s but we rarely were allowed to watch because the living room was forbidden area. My grandmother had a colour tv long before us. We did had phone and later an answering machine because of my mother's profession.

We had kerosine lamps too but as we moved nearby Rotterdam into a new built house (they were still building) there was electricity. We never had a fire or accident, plenty of candles also in the christmas tree.

Just like with you all accidents and broken equipment (burned) and fires (I had one) are always caused by the electricity network and not because of stormy weather (lightning).
Till today we take each plug out of the socket after using the equipment and I only use what does not use too much KwH and with as less tech as possible. Once I let the electricity measure in a former house and it turned out it was far of stable. The electrician advised me to only use electric devices as simple as possible.

The Agfamatic 50, a simple camera, could make coloured pictures but if the colour roll already existed it was extremely expensive.

At a certain moment I remember during vacations we used those throw away camera's. You could buy them with 36 colour photos and gave the entire camera to the photoshop. I doubt these photos were that bad or worse than the agfamatic 50.

About 7 or 8 years later I bought another camera. I tried to remember the name but I can't. Most likely it was a canon.

Mijn SLR camera was a Nikon. I've had 2 digital camera's but both were not too good (mainly because of the batteries) but I used it a lot. Negative is they are slow just like my phone. But it is as it is.

Now my son wants us to buy a better one to take photos of birds of prey, the deers but it will easily cost 2000 euros which is an aweful lot of money. I also don't know if it can be tried out like in the old days. It might be hard since most likely everything is sold online.
If at all a requirement for me would be a warantee of at least two years.

Well, if filthy rich and still alive I can always ask the phktographers I know.

Good to hear she's back. I hope she's rested and had fun. My regards & love to you and your family!

P. S. If it comes to the electricity here I doubt it is up to date. Everything is old. We frequently have blackouts and the power plant is ancient plus we are at the end of the row.

Black n white photos are really gives an ancient touch to photos when in ancient times there were unavailability of camera or camera was very rare...

But life with colours looks more delightful...!! You photography is really admirable 💕

I looked at the black and white and you know what? I believe it looks more peaceful to me. It's less chaotic. It must be how a part of the animals see the world (as I understand some people do to).

I have telegram but the notifications are off. I check once in a while (if I remember it) @Wakeupkitty

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. A good start of the week.

I can understand why you love colourless photos because it seems you like simplicity more.

Thanks for sharing your telegram...I would try to contact with you...

Good day ☺️

It can be that's the reason. 😁

Yes it's understandable.

Love to see your back response

At a time when everything was still black and white, it was history full of memories for those born under the eighties
